Introduction

An excellent dual-purpose gun developed and deployed by the US.
It was extensively used as the main armament of US destroyers in single gun mounts.
It displayed both excellent anti-ship and anti-air capabilities. It was the main gun of the Fletcher-class destroyers, as well as the destroyer escort that fought hard protecting the Taffy 3 escort carriers from the main force of the Kurita Fleet at Leyte.
