Her abyssal form is assumed to be the Escort Water Princess.

General Information

• She is named after Gambier Bay on Admiralty Island.
• She was launched on the 22nd November 1943.
• Sunk on 25 October 1944 in the Battle off Samar.
• On June 24, 2022, it was revealed that Caladan Oceanic, under guidance and support from both Parks Stephenson and Victor Vescovo, made several attempts to find her wreck off the coast of Samar. In a bid for good luck, Parks placed his nendoroid of Gambier Bay inside the submersible DSSV Limiting factor in the hopes that this will help find the wreck (he did the same for USS Johnston in 2021); however, all the attempts have failed locate Gambier Bay's wreck.

Update History

• She was added on the 17th February 2018 as Winter 2018 Event E4 reward.
• She got her Mk.II on the 15th July 2021.

Misc

• Gambier Bay was sunk by naval gunfire from an unidentified ship (often presumed to be Chikuma or Yamato), making her the only US aircraft carrier sunk in surface combat during the war.
