Repair Ships (AR) have the ability to perform "Anchorage Repairs" outside of sorties, when equipped with 
Ship Repair Facility
, synergizing when several AR are used.
- On Kai, when equipped with Ship Repair Facility, they gain the ability to perform "Emergency Anchorage Repairs" during sorties on certain nodes.
Special Mechanics
- Behaves as if she possesses 2 innate "Ship Repair Facility" for Anchorage Repair.
- She has the ability to upgrade equipment through "Akashi's Improvement Arsenal".
- Kai
- Her success rate for Improvements in increased.

- ↑ During the war Akashi operated out of the Japanese base in the Truk atoll where she repaired various types of battle-damaged Japanese warships, including the Shōkaku in October 1942 and the Yamato in December 1943.
- ↑ In February 1944 the Americans made a raid on Truk (Operation Hailstone), sinking and damaging many ships. Akashi was damaged in these attacks and escaped to the Japanese atoll of Palau. On 30 March 1944, while anchored off Urukthapel in the Palau islands, Akashi was hit numerous times by bombs and rockets from American aircraft from Task Group 58, during Operation Desecrate One. She was sunk in shallow water with her bridge and cranes still remaining above the water.

- She is named after Akashi City, or the Akashi Strait near Kobe.
- She is the 2nd ship to bear the name.
- She was launched on the 29th of June 1938.
- Sunk while anchored in Palau on the 30th of March 1944 during Operation Desecrate One.
- Salvaged and scrapped in 1954.
- Update History
- She was added on the 23rd of April 2014 as Spring 2014 Event E2 reward.
- She came with the Anchorage Repairs mechanic.
- Became droppable on 3-5 on the 12th of September 2014.
- Equipment improvement was added on the 24th of October 2014.
- Emergency Anchorage Repairs was added on the 30th of August 2019 with the Summer 2019 Event.
- Misc
- She was first in-game as the Item Shop, Premium shop, and LSC ship NPC.
- Is also the "Akashi's Improvement Arsenal" main NPC.
- The was the only specialized repair ship operated by the IJN (the other two were canceled).
- Akashi had 17 different factories within her body. Factories included furnaces and anvils amongst other things - a mobile manufacturing complex.
- Out of the 779 crew in her, 443 were mechanics, which was not limited to military personnel.
- Had 2 chimneys. The front chimney was used to exhale smoke from the factories - the one you see around her right arm.
- Had power generation capabilities that rivaled the Yamato (4800 kW) in order to power her machines.
- Had German machinery loaded, allowing her to have unparalleled reparation abilities compared to standard onshore factories.
- Her ability to repair ships efficiently was what made her a priority target by the Americans.
- Escaped Operation Hailstone on Truk on the 20th of February 1944, fleeing to Palau.
