As opposed to [[Searchlight]], this equipment doesn't apply a negative effect on the ship equipping it, but the above effects are not guaranteed to trigger, meaning that it can fail. Equipping more Star Shells in your fleet will increase the chances it will trigger drastically. Can be used simultaneously with [[Searchlight]].

Introduction

主砲等から発射される落下傘付の照明弾です。
夜戦時において敵艦隊付近を照明し、味方艦隊の夜間攻撃を支援します(敵艦隊の夜間特殊攻撃発生も少し抑えることが可能です)。

A flare with a parachute fired from a main gun.
During night battles, it illuminates the vicinity of the enemy fleet and supports the night attacks of the allied fleet (it also slightly suppresses the occurrence of nighttime special attacks by the enemy fleet).

Mechanics

FlareIcon.png Star Shells are used to trigger a special Night Battle mechanic when equipped, playing a special animation and applying the following effects:

  • Attack accuracy and cut-in rates of the fleet are increased.
  • Cut-in rates of the enemy fleet are decreased.

The activation rate is 70% on ships with 5 or more HP, 0% otherwise.

  • Multiple ships equipped with star shells do not have stacking effects.
  • There is no side effect, unlike Searchlights.
