* She gains a special attack on Kai Ni called "Full broadside... Sounds exciting!" (一斉射かッ…胸 が熱いな!) that targets 3 enemies at random.

** Activation requirements are as follows:

*** Nagato Kai Ni must be the flagship.

*** Another battleship must be in the 2nd position.

*** She must not be more than <span style="color:gold;">lightly damaged (小破)</span>.

*** The second ship must not be <span style="color:red;">heavily damaged (大破)</span>

*** The rest of the fleet must not contain a submarine.

*** Echelon formation needs to be selected in a single fleet OR Cruising Formation 2 for a combined fleet.

** If triggered, Nagato will do two attacks with a 1.4x post-cap modifier and the other battleship will do a 3rd attack with a 1.2x post-cap modifier.

*** If Mutsu is the 2nd ship, Nagato gains a 1.61x post-cap modifier while Mutsu gains a 1.62x post-cap modifier.

*** If Mutsu Kai Ni is the 2nd ship, both Nagato and Mutsu will gain a 1.68x post-cap modifier.

*** If Nelson is the 2nd ship, Nagato will gain a 1.54x post-cap modifier while Nelson gains a 1.5x post-cap modifier.

*** An AP shell will provide an extra 1.35x multiplicative bonus.

*** A radar with 5 or more LoS stat will provide an extra 1.15x multiplicative bonus.

*** See below for calculated bonus:

* The "Giant Flash" she speaks of in her sunk and wedding lines is probably a reference to the Able Nuclear Test during Operation Crossroads, where a 23 kiloton air-deployed nuclear weapon was detonated over Nagato and 94 other target ships. Nagato had been deliberately placed near the epicenter of both the Able and Baker detonations because the Pearl Harbor attack had been commanded from her bridge.

Special Mechanics

Nagato-class Special Attack

At Kai Ni, Nagato and Mutsu gain a special attack:

"Touch Helpers"
Any FBB, BB, BBV
  • A Nagato-class Kai Ni must be the flagship.
    • Secretary for combined fleets.
    • She must not be more than lightly damaged (小破).
  • The 2nd ship in the fleet must be FBB/BB/BBV.
    • She must not be heavily damaged (大破).
  • There must be 6 or more surface ships in the fleet.
    • There must be no submarine in 6-ship fleets. In 7-ship fleets, only 1 submarine is allowed.
    • There must be no surface ship in the fleet sunk or evacuated via Command Facility FCFFleet Command Facility
      Striking Force Fleet Command Facility
during a sortie, making the remaining total < 6. Ships in the escort fleet are not counted.
  • Bug: The attack cannot trigger in CTF versus a single fleet.

If triggered:

  • The flagship will do a 1st & 2nd attack,
  • The 2nd battleship will do a 3rd attack,
  • Each attack targets a ship at random,
  • If all enemies sunk, then touch stops early.

  • The modifiers are post-cap on day battle, and pre-cap on night battle.
  • The equipment bonuses do not stack further than 1 radar and/or 1 AP shell per ship.
    • Only ships equipped with those equipment will get a bonus for their attack(s).

  • Both ships involved consume additional ammunition when triggered:

The touch:

  • Can be triggered even if artillery spotting fails to activate.
  • Can only be activated once per sortie.
  • Has a chance to trigger every time the flagship takes a turn at shelling.
    • In single fleet, if it fails to trigger in day battle, there is a chance to trigger it in the follow-up night battle.
  • The rate is [1]:

Trivia

General Information
  • She is named after Nagato Provice, modern-day Yamaguchi Prefecture.
  • She was launched on the 9th of November 1919.
  • Sunk as a target during Operation Crossroads, the 25th of July 1946. Currently resting upside-down at a depth of 33.5 m (110 ft), she is listed as one of the best diving sites.
Update History
  • She was part of the original game's launch when the game was released on the 23rd of April 2013.
  • She got her Kai Ni on the 22nd of May 2017.
Misc
  • Nagato was the only surviving Japanese Capital ship after World War II.
  • The "Giant Flash" she speaks of in her sunk and wedding lines is probably a reference to the Able Nuclear Test during Operation Crossroads, where a 23 kiloton air-deployed nuclear weapon was detonated over Nagato and 94 other target ships. Nagato had been deliberately placed near the epicenter of both the Able and Baker detonations because the Pearl Harbor attack had been commanded from her bridge.
  • Nagato managed to survive the Able Test unscathed, however, she sprung a leak after the underwater detonation during the Baker Test, repair crews were unable to repair the leak due to high radiation levels and she capsized and sank during the night of 29/30 July 1946.
  • The real-life Nagato made a cameo in the animated movie, "The Wind Rises", shown with the serpentine funnel that came with her refitting between 1923-1925.
