15.5cm Triple Gun Mount

Introduction

巡洋艦の主砲だったものを、戦艦の副砲として活用しました。
「大和」型に搭載され、対空戦も可能な、性能・運用性ともに優秀な戦艦副砲となりました。
砲塔部の装甲が薄いのが玉に瑕で、諸説ありますが「大和」型の唯一の弱点という指摘もありました。

"Developed to cover the absence of heavy cruisers, which were restricted under naval treaty, by deploying light cruisers with enhanced firepower. It was the first 3-gun turret, highly rated in every aspects such as range, firing rate and actual operation. Was later equipped as secondary guns for Yamato class battleships. Could be used in anti-air firing as well."

Equipped by Mogami-class cruisers before they were converted into heavy cruisers by swapping their gun into 20.3cm turrets. Apparently Mogami-class was designed as a heavy cruiser, but the naval treaty at the time defined cruiser types with main gun caliber so it is a sort of regulation loophole. The other ships that also equip this are the Yamato-class Battleship and the Oyodo-class Light Cruiser
