- General Information
- Named after the Shinto Katori Shrine in Chiba prefecture, Japan.
- She was launched on the 17th of June 1939.
- Sunk by USS Iowa (BB-61) during Operation Hailstone on the 19th of February 1944 off Truk (07°45′N 151°20′E).
- On the morning of the 17th of February 1944, she led a small fleet, including Maikaze & Nowaki, from Truk in a breakout attempt towards Yokosuka, Japan. They were subjected to air attacks before facing a superior surface force. Only Nowaki escaped.
- Iowa barraged Katori with 5 & 16-inch salvos, sinking her in 13 min.

- She was added on the 6th of February 2015 as Winter 2015 Event E4 reward.
- Was added to the construction pool on the 25th of September 2015.
- Misc
- A training ship from commissioning on the 20th of April 1940 to sometime before the 11th of November 1941.
- A combat ship from sometime before the 11th of November 1941 until sinking in 1944.
- Operated as a flagship for various purposes, including for the Sixth Fleet & escort squadrons.
