Akitsumaru is a special ship that has multiple beneficial uses. While she may not be especially useful during the main part of the game, it is recommended to train her for event maps for various reasons. She has been known to be specifically favored for branching in event maps in the past. Additionally, since she is a unique ship class, she is often not restricted in branching rules, which has benefits of its own.

  • The "Akitsu" in her name means "Dragonfly". This is a reference to the ancient name of Japan "Akitsushima" (秋津洲).
  • She was launched on the 24th of September 1941.
  • Sunk on the 15th of November 1944 by the submarine Queenfish (SS-393).
