She is named after the Kitakami River.
She was launched on the 3rd of July 1920.

Update History

She was part of the original game's launch when the game was released on the 23rd of April 2013.
She got her Kai Ni on the 19th of June 2013.

Misc

Survived World War II.
Upon remodeling to Kai, she refers to herself as "Super Kitakami-sama"
She and Ooi were the first ships to receive Kai Ni on 6/19/2013.
Though still a derivation of the CL, upon being remodeled to CLT her ammo consumption will increase to near CV levels.
