- Named after Yamashiro Province, now the southern part of Kyoto Prefecture.
- Literally means mountain castle.
- She was launched on the 3rd November 1915.
- Sunk during night battle in the Battle of Surigao Strait, 25th October 1944.

- She was part of the orginal game's launch when the game was released in April 23rd, 2013.
- She got her Kai Ni on the 20th November 2014, during the Fall 2014 Event.
- She was the first kanmusu to receive a remodel without a game maintenance.
- She suffered a bugged release with issues such as not being able to re-equip her Searchlight without a refresh & her name showing up as なし under an opponent's fleet in PvP.
