Trivia
- General Information
- She is named after.
- Her nickname, "Iku", is an alternate reading of "19". 1 = "I"; 9 = "Ku".
- She was launched on the 16th of September 1939.
- Sunk via depth charges on the 25th of November 1943, by USS Radford.
- Update History
- She was added on the 1st of November 2013 as Fall 2013 Event E1 reward.
- Misc
- I-19 was originally planned to be released in the Summer 2013 Event but however due to decision made by Kensuke Tanaka and the development team. They opted out of releasing them due to two major factors:
- They originally planned to have her be voiced by Megumi Nakajima but later Tanaka proposed instead to be voiced by Misato.
- They forgot to have Misato do I-19's voice lines resulting in them delaying her arrival till the Fall 2013 Event.
- In September 15, 1942, while patrolling the Solomon Islands, she spotted and fired a spread of 6 torpedoes at the carrier USS Wasp. 3 torpedeos hit the carrier, causing such heavy damage that she later needed to be scuttled. The other 3 torpedoes (by sheer luck) sunk the destroyer USS O'Brien and caused significant damage to the battleship USS North Carolina. As a result of this, she holds the record for the single most destructive torpedo spread fired by any submarine during World War II.
