In-Game Tips
Akitsumaru is a special ship that has multiple beneficial uses. While she may not be especially useful during the main part of the game, it is recommended to train her for event maps for various reasons. She has been known to be specifically favored for branching in event maps in the past. Additionally, since she is a unique ship class, she is often not restricted in branching rules, which has benefits of its own.
Thanks to this factor, she is often used to carry fighter planes into battle, usually to compliment another ship with a larger flight deck that is also capable of launching planes (such as an aviation ship or Carrier). As such, having her can help assist with gaining an aerial advantage of the enemy fleet in locations where restrictions would prevent your fleet from gaining them otherwise, or when carriers are outright denied favorable routing.
She may also have beneficial uses for Amphibious Landing Operations since she that is the historical function of her ship class. However, as of this time, there has not been a large enough opportunity to give her a chance to be used in such an operation to gather any concrete data.
She is also sought after in both event maps and LSC since she will always come with a Daihatsu by default. She is notably rare and takes time to acquire either way, so do not get discouraged if your hunt is prolonged. Once upgraded, she gives Type 3 Spotter/Liaison and Ka-type Observation Autogyro which can be used for Aviation ships and Light Carriers to boost their ASW damage against submarines significantly.
Above all else, she can also modify Daihatsu via Akashi's Improvement Arsenal, boosting the effect of how many resources the Daihatsu can return with.

- Akitsumaru Kai can launch planes even when she is heavily damaged.
- Will act during shelling rounds even if equipped with only fighters, unlike other carriers. She can also attack at night.
