And at almost the same time (6/5~6/1942), the Imperial Japanese Navy was defeated in Battle of Midway and lost 4 regular aircraft carriers. Under this situation, a flight deck was put on Hyuuga instead of being repaired to her original state in order to compensate for the loss of aviation force.

Trivia

Named after an old province of Japan, Hyuuga. It literally means "Towards the Sun".
Run aground in shallow waters at July 27 1945 raised and scrapped July 2 1946 - July 4 1947
In the official KanColle 4-koma manga 'Fubuki Ganbarimasu!' (Go for it, Fubuki!), Hyuuga has a fairly serious personality and is constantly chasing after her elder sister, Ise, who is always trying to find ways to ignore her duties so she can go and play.
Her name still lives on the existing JDS Hyuuga-class carriers in JMSDF along with Ise.
She is required for quest A18 an option for A43.
