Along with the other Kageros I served as the escort for the Hawaii Operational Forces. In the fated Battle of Leyte Gulf, I was attached to Shima's fleet and rushed to the Surigao Strait. |
Shiranui, and the other Kagero-class destroyers were escorts for the 'Kido Butai', the Carrier fleet that attacked Pearl Harbour.
Shiranui was moved to the 5thCarDiv at the end of the war, and participated in the Surigao Strait diversionary fleet during Leyte Gulf, under Vice Adm. Kiyohide Shima. | |
