Trivia
- Although she did rescue Furutaka's crew in the Battle of Cape Esperance, she was shortly later bombed by enemy aircraft, Murakumo caught on fire and became un-maneuverable, 22 died. Shirayuki rescued the remaining survivors and torpedo executed her.
- Sunk in action, 12 October 1942
- The sword on her back is a reference to her namesake the Ama-no-murakumo-no-tsurugi, also known as Kusanagi, one of the Three Treasures of Japan - akin to the Crown Jewels of the UK.
