General Notes:

  • DEs can't replace DDs in expedition, branching rules, or most of the other ship type specific applications
    • However, in several specific situation, for instance formation of Transportation Escort combined fleet, DE have been allowed to substitute DD to meet the required minimal amount of DD in the fleet. (Does not work for CTF/STF)
  • For all implemented DEs, they only need a 60 displayed ASW value to perform OASW, as opposed to 100 for other ship classes.
  • All implemented DEs have a speed of slow, and thus cannot be used in branching rules that require fast fleet.
  • Compare to destroyers, they cannot equip Torpedo, Turbine, Engine, Star shell, Searchlight, Drums. They also have no torpedo stats, making them incapable of performing torpedo strikes, cannot increase their speed by using turbine/engine combination.
  • Although the plan to implement this ship class have been existed ever since the year of 2013 when the year when the game started, according to the quarterly mook 艦これ鎮守府生活のすゝめVol.1 released at the time, players were told to be patient about their implementation since they are for the final phase of the war despite they want to release them as soon as possible. The ship class is ultimately implemented in May 2017 via Spring Event of the year.
