Winter 2018 Event
The Winter 2018 Event is scheduled to begin on February 16th, 2018. This Event is titled " Showdown at Operation Shou-Gou! Battle of Leyte Gulf (Part 2)".
This event will serve as a continuation of the Battle of Leyte Gulf from back in the Fall 2017 Event. Unlike the previous event, this event will focus heavily on the Kurita Fleet, Suzuki Fleet and the Ozawa Fleet being the main participants in the event waters. Meanwhile members of the Nishimura Fleet and Shima Fleet will still have a valuable role in the event.
The Event will bring back the new mechanic known as the Striking Force Fleet which will allow you to organize a 7 ship fleet. A new formation known as the Vanguard Formation which will protect some of the front ships while allowing other ships to evade efficiently. [1]
Details about the event mentioned in Kensuke Tanaka's interview in January's Comptiq and Feburary's Comptiq have noted that the event will serve as the Final Event for KanColle Phase 1.
In addition to this, Dev Tweets have noted the event will be a Large Scale Decisive Battle. [2]

Battle of the Leyte Gulf
Wikipedia Article on Battle of Leyte Gulf
Known to be the largest Naval Battle in history which occurred in waters near the Philippine islands of Leyte, Samar and Luzon, from 23–26 October 1944, between the US Navy and Australian Forces vs. the Imperial Japanese Navy as the, fought over the Island of Leyte that served as the IJN's main supply line. Due to the size of this battle, it's recommended to go view the Wikipedia Article on the Battle of Leyte Gulf for additional details. The Fall 2017 Event itself will focus mainly on the Southern IJN's counter-attack operation to attack through the Surigao Strait and the fleet's involved in it.
The Northern Force Fleet - Ozawa's Fleet
The Fleet lead by Jisaburou Ozawa, who lead a decoy fleet into the battle of the Leyte Gulf to help draw out the US's 3rd Carrier Force in an attempt to help Kurita's Fleet safely pass the San Bernardino Strait in an attempt to get to the main landing forces at Leyte. This fleet consisted of the last of the IJN's then functioning carrier force which at the time of battle served as nothing more than a bait fleet to distract Hearsay's Fleet from the real part of the operation. All the Carriers were sunk in the fight resulting inthe IJN losing the last of it's working carrier forces.
The Fleet consisted of Zuikaku (Sunk), Zuihou (Sunk), Chiyoda (Sunk), Chitose (Sunk), Ise, Hyuuga, Isuzu, Ooyodo, Tama (sunk later following the battle), Akizuki (Sunk), and Hatsuzuki (Sunk)
In the KanColle Event, this Fleet plays a role in the 3rd Event Map.
The Central Force Fleet Group 1 - Kurita's Fleet
This Fleet was lead by Takeo Kurita who lead the main fleet that was part of the attack group intended to stage the main assault against the US fleet invading the Island of Leyte. His plan was to invade the American Fleet forces invading Leytw by coming from the North of Samar. During his attempt to traverse the waters he ran into several obstacles which causes several ships in the fleet to sink, but upon passing the San Bernardino Strait was when the Main Forces experienced taking a heavy hit from group of the 3rd Fleet Carrier Task Force that was located at Samar taking out most of Kurita's main forces.
This ships that he had within his fleet were: Yamato, Musashi (sunk), Nagato, Myoukou, Haguro, Maya (Sunk), Choukai (Sunk), Takao, Atago (Sunk), Noshiro, Hatsushimo, Asashimo, Naganami, and Fujinami
The Central Force Fleet Group 2 - Suzuki's Fleet
This Fleet was lead by Yoshio Suzuki who leads followed along with Kurita' Fleet that was part of the attack group intended to stage the main assault against the US fleet invading the Island of Leyte. He was there to help aid Kurita's fleet during the assult on Leyte. During his attempt to traverse the waters he ran into several obstacles which cause several ships in the fleet to sink, but upon passing the San Bernardino Strait was when the Main Forces experienced taking a heavy hit from the group of the 3rd Fleet Carrier Task Force that was located at Samar forcing him to retreat.
The ships he had in his fleet were: Kongou, Haruna, Tone, Chikuma (sunk), Kumano, Suzuya (sunk), Yahagi, Urakaze, Isokaze, Hamakaze, Yukikaze, Kiyoshimo and Nowaki
First Striking Force (1YB), Third Group - Nishimura's Fleet
The fleet lead by Admiral Shouji Nishimura, who would be one of the main fleets that would lead the attack into the Surigao Strait on the night of October 24th, 1944. It would be at this strait he would meet his end after running into an ambush conducted by the US Navy's 7th Support Fleet.
The ships that he had within his fleet were: Yamashiro (Flagship) (Sunk), Fusou (Sunk), Mogami (Sunk), Yamagumo (Sunk), Asagumo (Sunk), Michishio (Sunk), and Shigure.
Second Striking Force (2YB) - Shima's Fleet
The Fleet lead by Admiral Kiyohide Shima, who served as the second part of the Fleet that would conduct an attack against the US Navy at Leyte. He along with Nishimura attempted to invade the Surigao Strait on the night of October 24th, 1944, however after witnessing the fall of Admiral Nishimura's Fleet due to the ambush and bad timing with keeping the fleet in sync Nishimura. He was forced to retreat thus preventing the attack on the Leyte Gulf from the South.
The ships that he had within his fleet were: Nachi, Ashigara, Abukuma, Shiranui, Kasumi, Ushio, and Akebono.
Other members of the Second Striking Force (2YB)
While note entirely connected to the Battle of the Surigao Strait, there were other ships in Shima's Fleet who were a part of his fleet that was also formerly part of Nishimura's Fleet. Whether or not they'll have any impact on the event is unknown.
The Fleet Members consisted of: Wakaba, Hatsushimo, Hatsuharu, Aoba, Kinu, and Uranami

- It is possible for the damage to become even worse during a Single Ship Evacuation.
- Unlike the Combined Fleet's evacuation mechanic, it does not require an escort destroyer.
- The new Striking Force Fleet Command Facility will become obtainable and useable via the old Fleet Command Facility and the Action Report that can be earned in the upcoming Fall Event. The Fleet Command Facility as well as the new Action Report item will be obtainable on all difficulty levels, including Medium and Easy Mode.
- Supplementary information regarding the new Striking Force Fleet Command Facility and the Single Ship Evacuation it allows when carried by the striking force's flagship:
- The evacuation does not require an escort destroyer.
- The evacuation consumes the ship's entire fuel & ammo reserves.

- Returning this event, a new Fleet formation will be introduced called the Vanguard Formation.
- This formation will organize the fleet such that the 3rd-6th/7th ships protect the Flagship and 2nd Ship of the Fleet.
- In addition, the formation allows for ships to become more evasive in combat situations, especially with well trained Destroyer.
- This formation is also available only during the duration of the event.
- The formation will be usable by both normal fleets as well as the Striking Force Fleet.
- This formation will organize the fleet such that the 3rd-6th/7th ships protect the Flagship and 2nd Ship of the Fleet.

Tips
While organizing your fleet, it is Strongly Adviced to avoid using Fleet your intend to tag for the Kurita Fleet, Nishimura Fleet, Ozawa Fleet and Shima Fleet as the Vanguard Force Tag may prevent you from pathing or use ships you intend to use in later maps. Strike Force Based Composition: Single Fleet Based Composition Like most maps with that focuses on submarines patrol, it's recommended to bring a fleet with ASW combat. On Harder difficulties, it's recommended to have a fleet with pre-emptive ASW combat. However, in this map, you fleet should focus more on surface combat during the early phase as you try to reach Nodes B, F, and N. You may want to keep at least 1-2 ships with ASW equipment to deal with the subs while having most other ships geared to fight other ships you will encounter in the nodes you'll need to score an A rank within. You may also need to bring either a carrier or a heavier cruiser with the proper LoS Gear (Seaplanes or a Saiun) to help meet the requirements of the LoS check for Node N and the boss node. Once you trigger the debuff point and open the boss node, your fleet should focus on ASW combat so they can be able to fight against the New Submarine Princess. The pre-boss node may present some difficulties in higher difficulties, but with either a proper LBAS fleet or the vanguard formation it can be possible to survive the node. The boss node itself should be mostly straightforward even on harder difficulties if you have the proper LBAS and a strong ASW fleet. Recommended LBAS Planes 4 LBAS Bombers / ASW Capable Bombers Since this map is mostly ASW focused, you may want to organize on using ASW planes such as the Prototype Toukai to help with eliminating submarines while also bringing Bombers and Land Bombers to help take care of various surface ships on the debuff nodes and boss nodes.

Tips
Recommended Composition:
Unlocking the 2nd Starting Point
Completing the Nishimura Fleet Path The path is overall straightforward as you'll be using the Nishimura Fleet to fight into the Night Battle segments of the map. Depending on the difficulty, you may need to bring either seaplane fighters or your LBAS to help defend your fleet from the air attack nodes. It's also recommended to bring equipment that can fight PT Imp Groups (AA guns or Skilled Lookouts) in the night battle nodes leading up to Node Y. Node Y is a combined fleet that should be winnable under simple means if you are playing on normal or hard. If you're playing Easy, you can stop at Node S and do not need to get this far with Nishimura. Completely disregard the Nishimura Segment if you are playing Very Easy Mode. Completing the Kurita Fleet Path In this segment, the Kurita Fleet will need to go to Node T to unlock the path that'll make the route to the boss node viable. Equipping your DDs with some ASW gear and one with anti-air cut-in might be preferable. In addition to this, use LBAS to either fight subs or help defend against the air strikes. Once you have successfully reached Node T the requirements for thier segment will be completed. Once all conditions are met on both the Nishimura Fleet and Kurita Fleet unlock sections, the 2nd Starting point will open. Attacking the Carrier Boss Fleet from the 2nd Starting Point with the Kurita Fleet Pretty much follow the same Kurita Fleet setup, but gear more to the offense since there will be no subs from the 2nd starting point. Organize your LBAS to attack the boss fleet and the rest should come easy. LBAS Recommendations Unlocking Segment:
Defending your fleet is important in this segment so they can be able to reach the points they need to go. Use your LBAS to weaken the air attack nodes to help make it possible for an easier victory. Boss Kill Segment
If you are able to have your LBAS reach the boss node, it'll help make it possible to easily beat the boss more easily on almost any difficulty. Otherwise, it can be still winnable without it there and you may consider attacking the pre-boss node or continue defending yourself in the air attack nodes as usual.

Tips
Unlocking the Shortcuts:
Recommended Composition: West Part Segment (Part 1)
Ozawa Fleet Segment (Part 2)
Reaching Node H Node H can be done with a very simple process of using a single sub. All you will need is to have an LBAS full of Bombers that can eliminate the surface enemies on node B. If you sub completes Node B without taking critical damage, consider that segment complete. This is the least expensive and easiest way to complete the requirements and you only need to tag 1 ship for this segment! While it is possible to do this map with a Surface Fleet, the submarine method is highly preferred and should be considered even if you have a sub available. LBASRecommendation
Node B is the only threat to your sub there is no air power there and killing or weakening the surface fleet of CLs and DD should be more than enough to complete this. Defending the Land Bases (Hard) LBASRecommendation
If you own enough interceptors, its possible to beat this entire segment with using just one LBAS full of interceptors as all you need to do is gain Air superiority. If for having difficulty, being a 2nd LBAS with a similar set up to have a better chance of gaining AS at the air raid. Reaching Node S Using a Carrier Task Force Ozawa Fleet you will have to deal with several air attack nodes and battles with Carrier Fleets over the duration of the map. Expecting this segment to be bauxite intensive. Make sure your carrier is loaded with the best fighters and can perform a Carrier Cut-ins to allow for a better chance at taking down Wo-class Carriers and other ships. In addition, if air power proves to be problematic, considering bringing additional fighters to help gain Air Superiority as it'll save you from lots of stress. Node S is a Carrier Fleet that you'll need to battle against, but with the proper equipment management, you can easily complete this. Once all requirements are complete, the shortcut to skip Node P will be unlocked. Taking out the Aircraft Carrier Princess Unlike prior versions of the Aircraft Carrier Princess, this version is much stronger in comparison to older versions that appear in the normal part of the game. However, organizing your fleet properly can benefit you are and help you lead your fleet to a more successful victory in the battle. Using the Ozawa Fleet you have organized, beforehand and take them to boss node. The Carrier Hime will have a fleet with massive air power, so bring what fighters you need to gain over air superiority. If you have 12cm 30 Tube Rocket Launcher Kai 2s available. Use them in the expansion slot of Zuikaku or your light carriers if you have it available. One thing to note is that the Aircraft Carrier Princess is notably weak to members of the Ozawa Fleet, so any attacks that hit her directly will take her HP further down more quickly compared to attacks from other ships (Exact Modifier amount is unknown at this time). However, a strong ship like a torpedo cut in ship or a Torpedo Cruiser can also dish out similar results if needed. In addition, use a LBAS and a Boss Shelling Support Fleet to help take out the boss fleet more easily leaving room for your fleet to get more hits on the Aircraft Carrier Princess

Tips
Recommended Composition:
Unlocking the Boss Node
About Friend Fleets In this battle, there are 5 different possible Friend Fleets you can appear:
Do note that:
(List coming soon) Nishimura Fleet's Section Overall, the Nishimura's section is a near identical rehash of what happened in E-2. However, there will be possible encounters with submarines in mixed fleets as well as air strikes. So plan your LBAS according to defend the fleet as they advance into the night battle segments of the map. Once you reach the night battle areas, proceed to vanguard formation to protect the fleet until you reach the point you need to get to depending on the difficulty (Node M for Easy and Node N for Normal, Score an A rank on N for Hard). In addition, bringing skilled lookouts can help with imp fights. Node N will how a full fleet of battleships which the fleet will need to overpower. Use Line ahead and the rest should come easy as long as your fleet is capable of double attacking. Once the condition is complete, the path to the boss is open. Recommended LBAS
With some submarines appearing in mixed fleets, some defensive measures should be taken to protect your fleets from their attacks, but otherwise, send LBAS to air nodes as usual. Battling the Escort Water Princess In the Kurita Fleet section, the combined fleet will have to face a large series of carrier battles consist of 2 Air attacks, 2 battles against Nu-class type Light Carriers. Due to the size of the amount of air power you will need to face and the difficulty you select, you may need to either organize a full fighter group to both CVLs or a 1 Torpedo Bomber, 3 Fighters just so you can maintain enough air power to slightly hold out or slightly overpower the carrier fleet. Bringing in a Maya Kai Ni will allow her to perform an Anti-Air Cut in that can give you the chance to take out some of the carrier planes to either minimize or incapacitated the Nu-class Carriers. If need be, consider bringing an LBAS to defend yourself (especially for Node Q which can have a large number of light carriers present) In addition to all of this, before going to the boss node, the fleet will have to take on a full battleship combined fleet consisting of 6 Ru-class Battleships along with an escort fleet of powerful Destroyers and Light Cruisers. In harder difficulties especially an LBAS full of land-based bombers targeting this node may be needed to make things easier. Upon reaching the boss node, you will encounter the Escort Water Princess who will be in a combined fleet consisting of transports, a Nu-class carrier, and some Ru-class battleships along with some CAs and DD in escort. Depending on the difficulty the battle can be easier simple or really difficult. However having a full team of 2 CVL with just fighter will allow you to gain air superiority over the carriers, the rest will ride on how your fleet aims and attacks the various enemies in the fleet. If possible, consider bringing an LBAS here if you are willing to risk taking potential damage from the other nodes. Also, Support Shelling Fleets for both in-route and boss are highly recommended especially on harder difficulties During the night battle sequence after your Friend Fleet commences with their attack, it's important to note that the Escort Water Princess is unable to attack any of your fleet members only if your fleet does not use a searchlight. However due to how high her armor is, being able to improve your crit chances may be the difference between being successful and failing. So while you can depend on using just Star Shell and your Type 98 Recon Seaplane (Night Scout) to take on the princesses, keep in mind that it may be hard to score the necessary crit you need. So if necessary, only consider bringing the Searchlight if you're willing to risk having the Escort Water Princess attacking one of your members in exchange for a better chance at scoring the necessary victory. Finally, players on harder difficulties should consider using Heavier battleships to aid them in battle such as Yamato, Musashi and Nagato however keep in mind that this map will be large fuel and ammo sink as you try to complete the maps. LBAS Recommendations
Most of the threatening carrier attacks take place on Node Q, so if necessary, consider organizing fighters to take out the planes from the carriers. Most Carrier nodes required a Distance of 5 to reach.
Because Node R is full of Battleship Ru-Class, there are chances you will be likely get hit hard by them. Because of this, using an LBAS here can be helpful in eliminating some of them to improve your chances of survival. This node requires a Distance of 5 to reach.
The boss node can be considered targeted as the fleet there consists of many strong and possibly tough ships depending on the difficulty. Since they lack in much air power and defense, you can bring a single fighter/interceptor along with 3 Land Based Bombers to max out your chances of taking out some units before the start of the fight. Distance of 4 to reach the boss.
