NPC Fairy Record 1.png

Ranking is the competitive aspect of Kantai Collection. On each of the 20 Servers, players compete against each other by earning "Ranking Points".

  • Those points are earned by doing various activities.
  • The ranking on each server is determined by those points only.
  • Ranking rewards players with "valuable" equipment, and sometimes consumables.

Overview

The Ranking menu within the Military Record page, displays the 1000 players with the most points in ranking order.

  • When having a rank inferior to 1000, the ranking page corresponding to the current rank is also displayed.
  • Ranks are updated twice daily at 03:00 and 15:00 JST (at the same time as PVP).
    • The point counting for both daily updates stops 1h prior (02:00 and 14:00 JST). This means any points earned after this cut-off will count towards the next update.
  • The final cut-off for the month is at 22:00 JST on the last day of the month.
    • Any points from sorties, expeditions, and exercises earned after this point count towards the next month.
    • Any points from EOs and Quests will be lost.
    • The ranking page will not reflect the points earned between 14:00 and 22:00 JST on the final day.

Ranking rewards are not necessarily "useful" nor "rare".

  • Those rewards range from:
    • Ultra-exclusive unobtainable equipment,
    • "Event" equipment, generally linked to upcoming or ongoing events.
    • "Valuable" equipment, that would be either expensive to obtain or/and limited in number.
    • "Normal" equipment,
    • Rare consumables.
  • Equipment rewarded can also come with some Improvements, the higher ranks have generally more stars Improved.
  • Please see Rank Rewards for a list of historical rewards.

The difficulty of ranking varies from server to server.

  • Please see Rank History for the general pattern of rank thresholds for each server.
  • Note that rank history before August 2018 is not indicative of current ranking difficulty because those were from Phase 1, with different server populations.

It is not possible to rank after reaching the HQ experience cap (360 000 000).

Admirals who have breached the Terms of Service may be banned from ranking. They will be unable to rank for an unknown period of time.

Admirals with the same amount of rank points will be sorted by HQ experience.

For tips on how to rank, please see the help page.

Reward Tiers

Normal Tiers

The standard ranking tiers are:

  • Top 5
  • Top 20
  • Top 100
  • Top 500

Higher tiers provide more and better rewards, but also get more and more competitive. T100 and higher require careful planning, resource management, and strategy. Because of the way points are earned, it becomes marginally easier to rank throughout the year when ranking consistently.

  • Rewards are distributed with a month lag. I.e the reward for June's ranking is distributed at the end of July. Finalized ranks are also displayed at that time.

Special Tiers

The Special reward tiers were introduced during Phase 2. They are:

  • Lucky Special Operations Fleet Group (キリ番特務艦隊群), abridge in "kiriban".
    • Rank 600, 700, 800, 880, 888, 900, 999, and 1000.
  • Choice Fleet Name & Comment Striking Force Group (艦隊名&コメント選抜遊撃部隊群)
    • 8 Admirals, selected from about the top 3500 ranks.

Admirals who are selected will receive the same reward as the Top 500.

  • Special reward tiers are essentially a lottery and shouldn't be relied upon for ranking rewards.

Earning Points

Initial Points

These points are also known as "Carry Over" points. It is based on the amount of HQ experience earned in the current year to date and the amount of bonus points earned in the previous month.

  • These points are calculated at 03:00 JST on the first day of the month.
[math]\displaystyle{ \text{RP}_\text{initial} = \frac{\text{RP}_\text{YTD}}{50,000} + \frac{\text{RP}_\text{prev-bonus}}{35} }[/math]
With
  • [math]\displaystyle{ \text{RP}_\text{YTD} }[/math] the total year-to-date HQ exp earned since January.
    • There is no way to check the carryover from HQ exp in-game, and so each admiral needs to keep records of its own to keep track.
  • [math]\displaystyle{ \text{BonusRP}_\text{PrevMonth} }[/math] the total amount of EO and quest bonus points earned in the previous month.

Monthly Points

These points are earned from sorties, exercises, and expeditions. Please see HQ experience for information on how HQ experience is earned. Note that HQ experience does not translate directly to rank points, points earned are given by the following formula:

[math]\displaystyle{ \text{RP}_\text{month} = \text{HQ Exp}_\text{month} \times 0.0007 }[/math]
With
  • [math]\displaystyle{ \text{HQ Exp}_\text{month} }[/math] the total HQ exp earned after 2200 JST on the last day of the previous month.

These points usually count for a majority of the rank points in a month. The most efficient way of earning points is through sorties. Expeditions and exercises do not provide enough HQ exp to rank.

Extra Operations

Extra Operations reset at 00:00 JST on the 1st of every month. Clearing them will give bonus points.

  • Note that clearing EOs after 22:00 JST on the last day of the month loses the bonus points.

Quests

Some quests give bonus ranking points, they are quarterly, yearly, and once quests. Quarterlies reset at 0500JST on the 1st of March, June, September, and December, and yearlies reset on their specific month. These quests are colloquially known as "Cannons".

  • Any bonus points from quests earned after 1400JST on the last day of the month are carried forward to the following month.
    • For quarterly quests, if it is the last month before a quarterly reset, those points are lost.
    • For yearly quests, this works even if the quest resets on the next month (confirmed to work if done between midnight 0000JST and quest reset 0500JST). This means it is possible to stack these points twice for a single month.[1]
    • The quests from Setsubun Mini-Events also work this way.
