Equipment Icons & Types

Every piece of equipment in the game has an icon, regrouping them by type, giving a quick visual indicator of what a given equipment is.

• One icon can be shared with different equipment types.
• Some icons are used for a single equipment.
• Some equipment icons on the wiki will be displayed with "text" Text, indicating special notes like stats or sub-types of equipment.
  • Categories labeled as Sp are for "special subtypes", types of equipment with the same mechanics as their normal main type, but corresponding to "larger variants", equipable on respectively larger or more capable ships.

Carriers-Bassed

The base type of plane in the game:

• Fighters: provide air-power and shoot down opposing aircraft.
  • Night Fighters: night battle capable fighters.
• Dive Bombers & Fighter-Bombers: have strong "shelling attack", and cannot attack Installations unless they are Anti-Installation Dive Bombers.
• Torpedo Bombers ("attackers"): have strong "preliminary attack".
  • Night Torpedo Bomber: night battle capable torpedo bombers.
• Jets
  ("Jet Fighter-Bombers"). They provide strong air-power and shelling attack, and also carry an initial "Jet Assault".
• Reconnaissance Aircraft boost accuracy and LoS greatly, enabling contact in the right conditions.
  • Sp Large Reconnaissance Aircraft: recons only equipable on CVB.

Land-Based

Planes only usable on Land-Based (because of their size and/or use):

• Bombers, act like dive bombers/torpedo bombers:
  • Attackers:

Seaplanes

Planes only compatible with ships having the appropriate catapult:

• Seaplanes:
  • Recon Reconnaissance Seaplanes: provide Artillery Spotting and contact.

      : act like regular Seaplane Recons, that can also trigger Night Contact.
  • Bomber Seaplane Bombers: act like dive bombers and can also provide Artillery Spotting.
• Seaplane Fighters: act like fighters.
• Large Flying Boats
  : only participate in bombing if other planes are present, and are only equipable by few AVs. On LBAS, they mostly act as range extenders. The PBY-5A Catalina have an additional crew recovery mechanic.

Naval Guns

• Main Guns. Primarily used for surface combat:
  • Small Caliber Main Guns: are mostly used on smaller ships like Destroyers.
  • Medium Caliber Main Guns: are mostly used on medium ships like Cruisers.
  • Large Caliber Main Guns: are used on Battleships.
    • Sp Very Large Caliber Main Guns
      
      , are only equipable on some of the largest Battleships.
• Secondary Guns (surface): increase Accuracy and AA stats, and also trigger some combat mechanics.
• High-Angle Guns (dual-purpose): anti-aircraft focused guns.
  • Small Small Caliber Main High-Angle Guns: act like small main guns with AA boost.
  • Medium Medium Main High-Angle Guns: act like Medium main guns with AA boost.
  • Sec Secondary High-Angle Guns: act like secondary guns with AA boost.
    • Sp_Sec Large Secondary (High-Angle) Guns: are only equipable on larger ships.

Torpedoes

• Torpedoes: are used to enable powerful special attacks and cut-ins.
  • Sub Submarine Torpedoes: torpedoes exclusive to submarines,
    • Sub_LM Late Model Submarine Torpedoes: advance torpedoes, enabling special cut-ins.
    • Stern Stern Submarine Torpedoes
      : can be equipped in a Reinforcement Expansion slot.
• Minisub Midget Submarines
  
  : they trigger an opening torpedo salvo. They do not count as regular torpedoes and so cannot trigger any relevant cut-in.

Anti-Submarine Warfare

• Depth Charges: bombs set to detonate at a specific depth, crippling submarines:
  • DCP Depth Charge Projectors: greatly effective for ASW Synergy.
  • DCR Depth Charge (Racks): greatly effective for ASW Synergy.
  • Other ASW Mortars
    : are weaker than other Depth Charges, but they also attack Installations.
• Sonars: are required for better ASW efficiency, and provide some evasion boost against torpedoes:
  • Small Small Sonars: used on smaller ships, greatly effective for ASW Synergy.
  • Large Large Sonars: only used on heavier ships.

• Radars provide increased accuracy and LoS:
  • Small Small Radars: for smaller ships.
  • Large Large Radars: for larger ships.
    • Sp Very Large Radars
      : for battleships.
  • Air Air Radars: are AA-focused, and are required for most AACI
  • Surface Surface Radars: give more LoS and accuracy, and may be needed for Routing.

• Submarine Equipment: are exclusive to submarines and have a similar effect as regular radars.

• Searchlights
  : provide an accuracy boost and increase the cut-in chance in night battle, but result in the ship carrying them being more focused,
  • Small Small Searchlights: for smaller ships
  • Large Large Searchlights: for largerships

• Star Shell: reduce the enemy cut-in chance and increase allied cut-in rates.
• Skilled Lookouts
  : increase the cut-in chance and accuracy against light enemies and unlock new cut-ins.

• Landing Craft: are used for Expeditions and Sortie to increase resource gain, for Transport Operations, and for Anti-Installation. Some sub-types have greater effectiveness for some of those uses:
  • TP Transport DLC
    : are mostly used for Expeditions,
  • Tank Landing Tanks: are mostly used for Anti-Installation,
  • Armed Armed Boats
    : are mostly used for Anti-Installation and have an additional anti-PT bonus.
• Tanks: have a similar use to Landing Craft, with a lesser use for resource gain and the greatest effectiveness against Installations.
• Drums: are needed for some Expeditions and routing, and are used in Transport Operations.

• AA Fire Directors
  : give an AA boost and are used in some AACI.
• Shells
  • AA Shells
    
    : confer a small AA bonus, but are primarily utilized against "soft Installations".
  • AP Shells
    
    : increase firepower, allow for AP Cut-Ins, and confer an additional post-cap firepower bonus against harder targets.

• Anti-ground Rocket Launchers
  
  : confer great firepower bonuses against Installations.

• Extra Armors: increase armor:
  • Medium Medium Extra Armors: are for medium ships.
  • Large Large Extra Armors: are for larger ships.

• Engine Improvements // Speed modifiers
  
  : increase evasion, and when combined, also provide a boost to ship's speed.
• Ship Repair Facility: enable special Repairs in relevant situations.

• Aviation Personnel: aviation-related special equipment, with:
  • SCAMP SCAMP: extends the range and give extra firepower.
  • SDP SDP
    : are some alternatives to the SCAMP that feat in REs.
  • NOAP NOAP
    : allow carriers to attack at night when equipped with Night Planes.
  • AGDP AGDP: is needed for CV/CVB/CVL to sortie in "Arctic Maps".

• Command Facilities
  
  allow for ships in a fleet to be evacuated when critically damaged:
  • FCFFleet Command Facility (FCF) for Combined Fleets.
  • SFFCFStriking Force Fleet Command Facility (SFFCF) for Striking Force Fleets.

Seaplane Fighters			???
Large Flying Boats			Large Flying Boats notably: Can trigger Contact and Detection. Allow AV to perform ASW attacks. Increase the minimum Range of Land Bases, from +1 to +3 range depending on the base's unmodified range. Can be used in the Air Reconnaissance nodes mechanic. When equipped in any slot size, the plane count is dropped down to 1, refunding any bauxite. Although it is a scout which does not actually participate in Aerial Combat mechanics-wise, it is still included in the launching animation if other planes are launched.
Misc
Rotorcraft	Autogyros		Rotorcraft are ASW Aircraft, being used to trigger some OASW and Land-based ASW attacks. As they do not have any Dive Bombing stat, they do not participate to Phases 2 & 3 of Aerial Combat and are immune to shootdown. They: Will launch during aerial battle if other planes are launched, but cannot start an aerial battle on their own. Allow BBV, CAV, AV, and LHA to perform ASW attacks. CVL and Kaga Kai Ni Go equipped with them will still require a Dive Bomber or a Torpedo Bomber to attack submarines, as they are unable to attack anything without a bomber. AS, AR, and some CVB can equip them, but the former cannot attack SS, and the latter has a carrying capacity of 0 so they do not function. AO can equip them, but their attack animation will still be a depth charge animation. Their LBAS Combat Radius cannot be extended.
	Helicopters
Liaison Aircraft			Liaison Aircraft are ASW Aircraft, being used to trigger some OASW and Land-based ASW attacks. Command Liaison Aircraft do not have any Dive Bombing stat, and so do not participate to Phases 2 & 3 of Aerial Combat and are immune to shootdown. They: Will launch during aerial battle if other planes are launched, but cannot start an aerial battle on their own. CV/L equipped with it will still require a Dive Bomber or a Torpedo Bomber to attack submarines, as it is unable to attack anything without a bomber. Cannot have their LBAS Combat Radius extended. Hayabusa ASW Hayabusa have some Dive Bombing stat that counts toward Shelling and allow them to take part in regular Aerial Combat. They cannot trigger any CVCI. Only a random amount of this stat will be counted against Installations. In LBAS anti-ship strikes, their is used, and they are counted as regular Land-Based Attackers. Proficiency gives them increased Fighter Power like fighters. SpLBRecon Reconnaissance Aircraft			Reconnaissance AircraftSpLBRecon are planes that: Can trigger Contact. Does not contribute Fighter Power in Aerial Combat, and so cannot be shot down during it (can be shot down during Detection). When equipped to a Land Base: Can extend the minimum Combat Radius in Sortie Mode. LB Land-based Recons will additionally: Add a bonus damage multiplier to all Aircraft in the base. Add a bonus multiplier to the total Sortie Fighter-Power of the base. Add a bonus multiplier to the total Defense Fighter-Power of the base in Air Defense Mode. Can contribute Fighter Power (if it has any Proficiency or ), and can be shot down.
