Improving Ship Speed
While ship speed is generally set speed based upon the type of ship you're using (or in some cases what ship it is). With the introduction of the January 10th, 2017 Turbine Boiler update ships are now able to improve the speed of which a they can now go by using a combination of a turbine and a boiler.
The most basic example is that it can give slow ships (Like Yamato and Nagato the opportunity to go from Slow to Fast and this will allow them to become part of a "Fast Fleet" giving them access to branch pathing they would otherwise not have.
But it can also allow with additional boilers on some ships and giving a Boiler + Turbine combo to go from Fast to Fast+ and possibly Fastest
How the speed changes is reflected based upon the ship itself along with what boilers and turbines you use as more shall be explained below.
Using Turbines and Boilers to Improve a Kanmusu's Speed
A Kanmusu can improve her speed by using two of her equip slots to equip the two following equipment items:
- Turbine
- Boilers
By equipping a Turbine and a Boiler, this allows for a kanmusu to be able to change her speed as noted previously. Allowing for ships to go from the following speeds:
- Slow (slowest known speed in game)
- Fast
- Fast+
- Fastest (Fasted known speed in game)
Current Noted Effects of Changing Ship's Speed
As of current, information regarding the effect of turbines and boilers when equipped to a Kanmusu vary depending on the ship you equip them to. While some classes may has similar outcomes, not all will have the same outcome depending on who the kanmusu and what you turbines and boilers you equip to her.
What is however known as of current regarding using turbines and boilers is that:
- Using a turbine and boiler combination will boost a kanmusu's speed up
- Using a New High Pressure-Temperature Steam Boiler along with a turbine will give a boosted effect to your ship's speed that will improve the speed even further in comparison to a Enhanced Steam Boiler.
- Using multiple boilers with a turbine can result in additional changes to your ships speed possibly improving it further going to even Fast+ and Fastest.
- Improving a slow ship to a fast ship using a turbine and boiler combination will result in putting that ship in a fast fleet if all other ships in the fleet are fast giving the once previously slow ships, benefits of a fast fleet.
- By also improving a slow ship to a fast ship it allows for the ship to now benefit by taking branching paths which it would otherwise would not be allowed to travel.
- Ships that are put under Fast+ or Fastest as of current will only get an evasion boost (from the boilers and turbines) but they will eventually have an additional influence on the outcome of pathing and branching in the future.
More information and details will be revealed as more updates come along the way.
Turbine and Boiler Speed Change Chart
Listed below is a chart lists the speed effects of using the turbine and boiler combination in all possible known combinations (without the use of Reinforcement Expansions). Because all ships require an Improved Steam Turbine as part of the speed boost requirement, it will not be listed but instead will include all possible boiler combinations used along with the turbine. The list will categorize speed combinations based upon slow all the way to fastest where they apply.
Note that the boilers have been placed under thier abbreviated forms:
- ESB = Enhanced Steam Boiler
- NHPTSB = New High Pressure-Temperature Steam Boiler
