Revision as of 21:32, 21 November 2017
The Fall 2017 Event is scheduled to begin on November 17th, 2017. This Event is titled "Showdown at Operation Shou-Gou! Battle of Leyte Gulf (Part 1)".
This event will focus on the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Unlike previous events, the Battle of Leyte Gulf will be split into two separate events. The Fall Event will be Part 1, while the Winter 2018 Event will be Part 2 of the event. It has been confirmed that the final map of Part 1 will be related to the Battle of Surigao Strait.
The Event will introduce a new Fleet mechanic known as the Striking Force Fleet which will allow you to organize a 7 ship fleet. A new formation known as the Vangaurd Formation which will protect the 1st and 2nd ships in the fleet. Finally, the Single Fleet Evacuation which will be allow you to send one ship back to your base from a Stirking Force Fleet if a ship takes Heavy Damage in battle.
Details about the event mentioned in the KanColle Naval Review, Kensuke Tanaka's interview in November's Comptiq, and the interview in December's Comptiq have noted that the event will feature the Akizuki-class Destroyer Suzutsuki and several other "smaller ships".
The current scale of the event is known to be Medium Scale. There will be a total of four maps.
Recent tweets as well as updates to voice lines and CGs indicate that the event will involve the Battle of the Surigao Strait.
Additional information regarding event-related subjects and content will be revealed by dev tweets and other materials.

Wikipedia Article on Battle of Leyte Gulf
Known to be the largest Naval Battle in history which occurred in waters near the Philippine islands of Leyte, Samar and Luzon, from 23–26 October 1944, between the US Navy and Australian Forces vs. the Imperial Japanese Navy as the, fought over the Island of Leyte that served as the IJN's main supply line. Due to the size of this battle, it's recommended to go view the Wikipedia Article on the Battle of Leyte Gulf for additional details. The Fall 2017 Event itself will focus mainly on the Southern IJN's counter-attack operation to attack through the Surigao Strait and the fleet's involved in it.
The Northern Force Fleet - Ozawa's Fleet
The Fleet lead by Jisaburou Ozawa, who lead a decoy fleet into the battle of the Leyte Gulf to help draw out the US's 3rd Carrier Force in an attempt to help Kurita's Fleet safely pass the Sanbendrino Strait in an attempt to get to the main landing forces at Leyte. This fleet consisted of the last of the IJN's then functioning carrier force which at the time of battle served as nothing more than a bait fleet to distract Hearsay's Fleet from the real part of the operation. All the Carriers were sunk in the fight resulting inthe IJN losing the last of it's working carrier forces.
The Fleet consisted of Zuikaku (Sunk), Zuihou (Sunk), Chiyoda (Sunk), Chitose (Sunk), Ise, Hyuuga, Isuzu, Ooyodo, Tama (sunk later following the battle), Akizuki (Sunk), and Hatsuzuki (Sunk)
In the KanColle Event, this Fleet plays a role in the 3rd Event Map.
First Striking Force (1YB), Third Group - Nishimura's Fleet
The fleet lead by Admiral Shouji Nishimura, who would be one of the main fleets that would lead the attack into the Surigao Strait on the night of October 24th, 1944. It would be at this strait he would meet his end after running into an ambush conducted by the US Navy's 7th Support Fleet.
The ships that he had within his fleet were: Yamashiro (Flagship) (Sunk), Fusou (Sunk), Mogami (Sunk), Yamagumo (Sunk), Asagumo (Sunk), Michishio (Sunk), and Shigure.
In this Event, the Fleet plays an important role in the final Event Map.
Second Striking Force (2YB) - Shima's Fleet
The Fleet lead by Admiral Kiyohide Shima, who served as the second part of the Fleet that would conduct an attack against the US Navy at Leyte. He along with Nishimura attempted to invade the Surigao Strait on the night of October 24th, 1944, however after witnessing the fall of Admiral Nishimura's Fleet due to the ambush and bad timing with keeping the fleet in sync Nishimura. He was forced to retreat thus preventing the attack on the Leyte Gulf from the South.
The ships that he had within his fleet were: Nachi, Ashigara, Abukuma, Shiranui, Kasumi, Ushio, and Akebono.
In this fleet, this fleet plays a role in the First and Second Event Map.
Other members of the Second Striking Force (2YB)
While note entirely connected to the Battle of the Suirgao Strait, there were other ships in Shima's Fleet who were a part of his fleet that were also formerly part of Nishmura's Fleet. Wether or not they'll have any impact on the event is unknown.
The Fleet Members consisted of: Wakaba, Hatsushimo, Hatsuharu, Aoba, Kinu, and Uranami
Battle of the Surigao Strait
Wikipedia Article on Battle of the Surigao Strait
Battle of the Surigao Strait was conducted on the night of October 24th, 1944 by the Nishimura Fleet and Shima Fleet in an attempt to attack the US forces invading the Island of Leyte at the dawn. However, due to the US's anticipation of incoming forces that were planning to attack they were able set up an ambush which would catch Nishimura's Fleet off guard getting caught "Crossing the T" and would allow the US's 7th Fleet to launch a devistating attack that would pretty much destroy the entire fleet (outside of Shigure who barely survived) and forcing Shima's fleet to retreat. For more details, look at the wikipedia article above.

Mechanics
Participation requirements
- Must have a 75% sortie win ratio.
- Must have 5 empty ship slots for new ships.
- Must have 20 free equipment slots.
Special Mechanics
- The difficulty system first used in Spring 2015 Event returns: you can choose between Operation A (甲, Hard), Operation B (乙, Medium) or Operation C (丙, Easy).
- Choosing A or B requires certain HQ Level (HQ Lv 35 for B / 80 for A in Spring 2015 Event).
- An important note to all Admirals intending to clear the event on Hard difficulty - further (new) conditions now apply:
- When switching difficulty from any other difficulty to Hard, the map's debuff mechanism (where applicable) will be reset.
- Switching between any other difficulties will not reset the debuff mechanism.
- When switching difficulty from any other difficulty to Hard, the map's debuff mechanism (where applicable) will be reset.
- The debuff system from Summer 2015 Event's final map, where certain nodes had to be killed to reduce boss armor will return.
- New: This event (Fall 2017) will allow a fleet with seven ships (Striking Force Fleet) to sortie to certain event maps that allow single fleet operations starting from E-2, and also includes the final map of the event.
- The Striking Force cannot be sortied during exercises or sent on expeditions while it contains seven ships.
- The Striking Force can only be created and used in the third fleet in the menu (out of a total of four fleets).
- A Striking Force with a flagship that carries a new piece of equipment, the Striking Force Fleet Command Facility, will be able to make use of the new Single Ship Evacuation mechanic.
- The new Single Ship Evacuation mechanic that will become available for the Striking Force as of E-4 allowing a single ship in the fleet to retreat from the battlefield after an enemy engagement if she suffered heavy damage.
- It is possible for the damage to become even worse during a Single Ship Evacuation.
- Unlike the Combined Fleet's evacuation mechanic, it does not require an escort destroyer.
- The new Striking Force Fleet Command Facility will become obtainable and useable via the old Fleet Command Facility and the Action Report that can be earned in the upcoming Fall Event. The Fleet Command Facility as well as the new Action Report item will be obtainable on all difficulty levels, including Medium and Easy Mode.
- Supplementary information regarding the new Striking Force Fleet Command Facility and the Single Ship Evacuation it allows when carried by the striking force's flagship:
- The evacuation does not require an escort destroyer.
- The evacuation consumes the ship's entire fuel & ammo reserves.
- Only one ship can be evacuated per battle.
- The damage the ship suffered may become worse during the evacuation, but she will never sink.
- The new Single Ship Evacuation mechanic that will become available for the Striking Force as of E-4 allowing a single ship in the fleet to retreat from the battlefield after an enemy engagement if she suffered heavy damage.
- New: Starting with this event, a new Fleet formation will be introduced called the Vanguard Formation.
- This formation will organise the fleet such that the 3rd-6th/7th ships protect the Flagship and 2nd Ship of the Fleet.
- Details of this formation as well as its effects in-game are To Be Confirmed.
- The formation will be usable by both normal fleets as well as the Striking Force Fleet.
- This formation will organise the fleet such that the 3rd-6th/7th ships protect the Flagship and 2nd Ship of the Fleet.
- New: ASW Support Expedition + Support Expedtions update
- ASW Support Expedition fleets have now been implmented.
- Exact Condition are unknown but will require you to have ASW capable ships such as CVL along with DD and DE in the fleet.

Tips
Recommended Composition: Since this is a search Operation you will be assembling your fleet in a way that can use both good LoS and ASW to handle the submarines and make contact with the enemy carrier Fleets in this map. During your time here you will need to complete several objectives to access the later parts of the map. In addition, since this fleet is part of the Shima Fleet, do consider bring some members on the fleet to help with routing purposes, especially for harder difficulties (Approximately 2-3 members) Shima Force Fleet: Nachi, Ashigara, Abukuma, Shiranui, Kasumi, Ushio, and Akebono Other possible members that may appliy but are still unknown if they do are: Wakaba, Hatsushimo, Hatsuharu, Aoba, Kinu, and Uranami Avoid using the Nishimura Fleet on harder difficulties till fleet tag that's assigned to them is given out or until further information is found out The following steps need to be completed: Making Contact with the Enemy Carrier fleets This one only requires you to have a decent amount of LoS and some good anti-air to do since you'll need to need to be able to reach Nodes F and L Node F is a base node if you reach the light carrier fleet before it in Node H and get damaged, you're can still proceed and reach the base node to complete that part of the objective. Node L is an enemy Fleet node consisting of an enemy Nu-class Carrier along with other ships which vary upon the difficulty. Simply engaging them should be enough, but to ensure you open the path, aim to S rank it. By completing these conditions, you'll access the next part of the map that branches from Node I to M and onward. Making Contact with the Enemy Carrier fleets (Part 2) Like before, LoS is vital to reaching the nodes you need to access and this time, you will need to achieve a strong air power to be successful and gain access to the boss node in the process. You will need to complete the following conditions: Make contact with Nodes P,O and score an Air Superiority at node E. Node P is a base node. The process is about the same before. Node O is an Air Attack node, do take caution and remember that good AA cut-ins can help here. Finally, node E you will need score Air superiority, which will require an using an AV or CAV loaded with Zuiuns / Seaplane Fighters depending on the difficulty and make full use of your Land Base Air Squadron full of fighters to help you achieve air superiority. Do note, you may need to move on to the next node to ensure the map confirms you have successfully completed part of the quest requirements. Once all the condition is met, the boss node (Node S) should appear.
The Boss Fleet will consist of a Light Carrier Nu-Class (Kai variants) with some of its new equipment setups accompanied with a team of battles ships (which can range from Battleship Ru-Class to Battleship Princesses depending on the difficulty, some lighter ships, and some additional carriers depending on the difficulty. Using an LBAS for this node should be considered as it'll help with delivering the damage to the boss fleet. On harder difficulties, expect losing planes to be far more common. Also for harder difficulties, bring a Boss Support Shelling Fleet (Which now need to be 3 BB/FBB, 1 CV/CVL, 2 DD) to help wipe out the additional ship as boss.

Tips
Fleets from E-1 can be also used for E-2 as they share the same tag on later difficulties. Like the previous operation, getting access to the boss will require a step by step process which will require you to complete certain requirements before getting to the point where you can do the actual TP phase of the operation. The first starting point is located far away and will be impossible to reach the boss node with your fleet under normal conditions, but if you complete a series of steps, you can unlock a new staring path closer to the boss which should help you successfully complete the TP part of the Operation much easier. Getting access to the New Starting Node To create the 2nd Starting point you will need to complete certain condition which are as followed:
Completing these conditions will allow you access to the 2nd starting point. Recommended Composition: Node C Clearing Node D Clearing Node J Clearing Second Start Point to Boss Node 2CA, 1 CAV, 1CL, 3DD (Preferred) 2CA, Akitsumaru (With Turbine+Boiler Combo, expansion slot preferred), 1 CL, 3DD Since this fleet is part of the Shima Fleet, do consider bring some members on the fleet to help with routing purposes, especially for harder difficulties (Approximately 3-4 members) Shima Force Fleet: Nachi, Ashigara, Abukuma, Shiranui, Kasumi, Ushio, and Akebono Other possible members that may apply but are still unknown if they do are: 'Wakaba, Hatsushimo, Hatsuharu, Aoba, Kinu, and Uranami Gaining Air Control of nodes C and D Completing these two nodes will require less work if you have the appropriate ships to do the task, however, without certain ships, the task becomes more difficult. You will also need a Land Base Air Squadron consisting of Fighters / Interceptors that can reach a distance of 4 or higher. to hit node C and D. For Node D simply bring a fighter filled CVL and focus your LBAS full of fighters/ interceptors on this node. It should be easy to gain air control over this node. Gaining Control of Node C will require more work due to the fact you can't use CVL. The following methods are known to have worked:
In addition, do remember to advance to the next node to allow the AS' S rank requirements to count when doing Node C and D Beating Node J Node J will feature a mixed fleet that consists of a New Submarine Princess along with a group of submarines and surface ships. Having an ASW fleet is highly preferred. A fleet with Pre-ASW is even more preferred, especially on harder difficulties. In addition, you can take advantage of your LBAS squadrons new ASW LBAS attacks which require you to arm your fleet with planes that have 7 ASW or higher to perform ASW bombings on the subs. Using this in combination should easily defeat the New Submarine Princess and her fleet helping you score an S-rank. Once all conditions are complete, you should access the 2nd Starting Point. From the Second Starting Point The Second Starting point features a gauntlet of Carrier waves and a battle against battleships and destroyers. You will need to organize your transport fleet to be able to go through the gauntlet and successfully take out the obstacles along the way. The hardest part of the challenge is being able to maintain strong air power while also delivering a good amount of damage against the enemy fleets that pose an obstacle. Your CAV or Fast Akitsumaru will need to have Fighters / Seaplane fighters equipped to help suppress the damage from the air nodes. Land Bases should be organized to do both bombing and fighter especially for Node L and the Boss Node. As per usual, because this operation is completed once you deplete the TP gauge, you only need to score an A rank at least to successfully win.

Tips There are three parts in this map
Each part requires a different fleet formation
Recommended Fleet 1FBB, 4CAV, 1DD + 1CL, 1CA, 4DD'
The Air Defense Princess is an old returning boss who hasn't been seen since the Summer 2015 Event in this event she's a weaker version of her former self as she has a few noted changes to her:
Depending on the fleet you use, you will be needing to traverse through a series of surface battles, submarine nodes, and a few Air battles before reaching the Boss Fleet. If subs present an issue, be sure to bring ASW Support Expedition Fleets for the route along the way to the boss node. As for the boss node itself, depending on the composition you use, the ability to achieve Air Superiority/ Supremacy will ride on if your LBAS can take out the enemy carrier at the boss and how many Seaplane Fighters (if you go CAV route) or fighters you bring. Otherwise, the battle should be simple until the final kill where the fleet becomes more tougher with additional battleships and Cruisers. Depending on the fleet, torpedo cruisers double attacks and Torpedo cut in DDs might be the best way to tackle the boss on the final kill to ensure she's defeated. Once the Air Defense Princess is defeated, another section of the map will open leading to the Transport portion of the map. LBAS Recommendation: Second Part: Using Transport Combined Fleet for the Transport Operation Recommended Fleet: CAV, CL, 4DD + 2CAV, 3DD, CL As like any Transport Operations that use a Transport Combined Fleet, it's recommended to have your main fleet carry Drum Canisters and Daihatsuwhile having to have your Escort Fleet lead the Offensive. In this part of the Operation, your fleet will be going through some of the same nodes as before but since you'll be using a Transport Combined Fleet, it may present some issues. To organize a team to handle combat and possibly some ASW from the escort fleet. To help aid in making the battle easier, it's also recommended to have LBAS Target Nodes B and E to take out as many ships as possible to make the trip easier for your transport fleet. The Boss node will have an Old Destroyer Demon along with a team of Destroyers and light cruisers. If you bring a seaplane fighter, you should be able to obtain an easy aerial advantage over the enemy but otherwise can be mostly done without it. On the final runs on harder difficulties, the boss fleet will have a Battleship Re-Class among the fleet who will mainly provide air coverage. Use enough seaplane fighters along with your LBAS to counter the power of its bomber. Otherwise battle should be the same. Once complete, you will need to also Successfully intercept the enemy Air Raid to be allowed to progress to the next part of the event. LBAS Recommendation: Third Part: Successfully Intecept the Air Raid LBAS Recommendation: Use your transport combined fleet along with the assistance of an in route fleet shelling support to go through the nodes until the air raid. Once the air raid sequence unfolds, hope for a successful air defense (Take 0 damage from the Air Raid) to successful completion the conditions of this mam and open up the final portion of the event map. Fourth Part: Using a Carrier Task Force to battle the Aircraft Carrier Princess Fleet: 3CV(L/B), 3CA(V) + CL, CA, 4DD O - M - P - R - S (If contain at least a specific number of Ozawa Fleet Members) For Last Dance in Hard, you may want to try this fleet for the kill
A much stronger composition which is recommended for the Hard difficulty and lower difficulties. Ozawa Fleet Members required for shortest branching
Ozwawa Fleet consist of Zuikaku, Zuihou, Chiyoda, Chitose, Ise, Hyuuga, Isuzu, Ooyodo, Tama, Akizuki, and Hatsuzuki Dealing with the Aircraft Carrier Princess and her combined fleet should only present a small challenge for your combined fleet especially if you have the proper equipment to overpower the air power from constant air battles along the way to the boss. Anti-Air Cut-ins are also highly recommended to make sure you minimize the damage you take from carriers during the air attacks aireal phases. Otherwise with a proper LBAS set up along with a strong Carrier Fleet, it should be easy to defeat the Princess with little difficulty. However, on the final kill, you may want to bring a Boss Support fleet to help assist in defeating the enemy fleet. On Hard mode, you may face a harder fleet consisting of Ne-class flagship along with WO-Kai at the boss node on the final kill. Take the stronger fleet to counter the fleet's power and it should be possible to succeed in completing the rest of the event operation easily. LBAS Recommendations 2 Fighters + 2 Torpedo Bombers/ Land Base Bombers (Both Squadrons)
