Play 		I’m the 12th of Ukuru-class coastal defense ship, Inagi. When I was born, a balance of forces was already heavily tilted to enemy's advantage, but I served on naval escort missions on the surviving shipping lanes. I escorted a convoy in the Hokkaido area and then done it in the Tohoku area too. Later, while temporarily anchored at Hachinohe, I was engaged by planes from the enemy task force. There were no more friendly fighter in the sky, and later, ones called me the "Hachinohe’s Shield", I heard.
鵜来型海防艦、十二番艦、稲木だ。生まれた時にはもう戦力は大きく傾いていたが、生き残った航路の海上護衛任務に務めた。北海道そして東北方面の船団護衛の後に八戸に仮停泊中、敵機動部隊の艦載機と交戦した。もう味方の戦闘機は空に無く、後に「八戸の盾」という人達もいると聞く。

General Information
  • Named after 稲毛島 (いなぎしま) Inagishima or Inagi Island at Kagawa Prefecture.
  • She was launched on the 25th of September 1944.
  • Sunk by planes from USS Essex and USS Randolph on the 9th of August 1945.
    • Was nicknamed the "Hachinohe’s Shield" for her actions on this day.
Update History
Misc
  • There is a memorial dedicated to her and a ceremony with surviving members as well as JMSDF representatives is held every year.
  • There is some discrepancy as the English Wikipedia entry states it was HMS Formidable that sank her but Royal Navy Archives state that Formidable sent planes to Shiogama. Meanwhile it was HMS Indefatigable that sent planes to Kesennuma, Kakuda, and Hachinohe. Japanese records and US Records coincide that TF 38 elements: USS Essex and USS Randolph and their planes were the ones who dealt the final blow on Inagi.
  • The Kancolle Summer 2023 E-3 Map 八戸の盾 "The Shield of Hachinohe" is dedicated to her and is her actual nickname. This is based on her actions on the 9th of August 1945 wherein she drew the fire from multiple aircraft for several hours until she was sank giving time for people inland to seek shelter.
  • The bird charm attached to her gun mount in her CG is an actual charm available in the town of Hachinohe.
