Trivia

General Information

• Named after the Salmon fish.
• She was launched on the 15th of June 1937.
  • Stricken on the 11th of October 1945, scraped in 1946.
• She was heavily utilized and had a good career. She had several brushes with danger and had an engagement wherein she survived a depth charge explosion up close.
• She fought with Kaiboukan 22 (credited withs sinking USS Harder) and Kaiboukan 33 (credited with sinking USS Trigger). Salmon aggressively closed in on Kaiboukan 22 and fired her deck gun and 20mm Oerlikons which raked the deck of Kaiboukan 22. Salmon also sent a signal for other submarines to attack causing the defense ships to fall back.
• Credited with sinking Asahi
