Range determines which ships attack first. It is impossible to reduce the base range of a ship, but certain equipment can extend it.
- Not to be confused with LBAS Range Extension.
- Some ships have a different ranges than the rest of their type (often following a remodel):
- Yamato-class and Vittorio Veneto-class are the only battleships being Very Long Range.
- Ise-class Kai Ni are the only battleships being Medium Range.
- Zara-class are the only CA being Long Range.
- Tenryuu-class Kai Ni, Kuma-class Kai Ni, Nagara-class Kai Ni, Yuubari Kai Ni/Toku/D, and Atlanta are the only CLs being Short Range.
- Tashkent is the only DD being Medium Range.
- Nisshin and Kamoi are the only AV being Medium Range.
- Kamoi is the only AO being Medium Range.
- Taigei is the only AS being Short Range.
- USN DDs and Yukikaze Kai Ni are the only DDs that can reach Long Range, once equipped with an SG Radar
. - Using both a Very Long Range equipment and a Type 2 Reconnaissance Aircraft on Ise Kai Ni or Hyuuga Kai Ni, will set them at "Longest Range".
