As of June 10th, 2016, Kantai Collection entered into the mobile realm where players with Android OS Mobile phones were allowed to play Kantai Collection on their mobile devices. The mobile version went under a closed beta test and only selected players who managed to be accepted from the Kancolle Mobile Lottery were allowed to participate in the Android Version of Kancolle. The Android Version went live for all players on August 1st, 2016.

• A major update was held on the 2023-12-15, raising the Android version up to the HTML5 browser standard in many areas.

System Requirements

In order to play the Android Version of Kancolle you will need specific system requirements for your mobile phone in order to use the app. According to the official dev tweets, the requirements are as follows:

• OS: Android 7 or higher
  • As of the 2023-12-15, versions 4.4 to 6 are no longer supported.
• CPU: 1GHz or more, 64 bit
• Memory: 1 GB or more
• Space: 100 MB of free space

Most modern smartphones should be able to run the game.

• Do note that for foreigners, the device must use a VPN network to play the game, and so most likely run a VPN alongside the game.

Acquiring the App

The game is only available on Android devices, and not IOS devices so far.

In order to play the Android version of Kantai Collection, players need to download the application from the DMM Games's app store.

• The game is not available on other stores like the Google Play Store.

Once in the store, and logged in with the right DMM account, the app can be downloaded like on any app store, as well as being updated from the same menu.

Noted Differences

At the start of the app, there is a prompt to turn off sounds as well as a clear cache button.

As of the 2023-12-15 update, most parity differences between the HTML5 browser version and the Android version have been removed.

• The Android version mostly shares the same features and UI as the browser version, with only some elements being reworked for small touchscreen devices.
• On startup of the Android version, it is possible to immediately turn off all sounds as well as clearing the game's cache.

Currently, there are a few small noted things that are different from the Kancolle Android Version which players can do in this one that they cannot do in the original. Which include:

Mobile alternative

"Gotobrowser" has been developed as a better alternative to play Kancolle on Android devices.

This application will simply run the regular browser version of Kancolle, being at the end better optimized.

• Unlike the Android app, this one does not need the use of a VPN.
• This solution is also compatible with viewers like "Kcanotify".
• Gotobrowser also supports add-ons like the English Patch, the Critical Patch, and the Live 2D add-on.
