Range

Range is a stat that determines the ship attack order during the First Shelling Phase and OASW.
- In those phases, both fleets will take turns shelling the opposing fleet, with the turn order defined by each ship's range stat. It is possible to increase a ship's range with proper equipment.
- The shelling order is Longest > Very Long > Long > Medium > Short > None.
- If two or more ships tie for range, the order between them is random.
- Notes
- "Longest" range is only attainable on certain ships, using range extenders (see Range Extension).
- Unlike the other ranges, Longest does not have a proper in-game icon and so is just displayed as "Very Long".
- "None" range is mostly reserved for Abyssal Aircraft Carriers and Transport Ships.
Base Range
Some ships have a different range than the rest of their type (often following a remodel):
Base range | Type | Exceptions |
---|---|---|
None | N/A[1] | N/A |
Short | CV, CVB, CVL, DD, DE, SS, SSV, AV, AO, LHA, AR | |
Medium | CL, CLT, CT, CA, CAV, AS |
|
Long | FBB, BB, BBV |
|
Very Long | N/A |
|
Longest | N/A | N/A |
- ↑ Transport Ships and some Abyssal CV(L) are the only Vessels having "None range".
Range Extension
It is impossible to reduce the base Range of a ship, but certain equipment can extend it.
- Not to be confused with LBAS Range Extension.
- USN DDs, Dan Yang, and Yukikaze Kai Ni are the only DDs able to reach:
- Using both a Very Long Range equipment and a Type 2 Reconnaissance Aircraft on Souryuu Kai Ni, Hiryuu Kai Ni, Ise Kai Ni, or Hyuuga Kai Ni, will set them at "Longest Range".
