- ↑ Shigure "時雨" is a name that means "drizzling rain in autumn" in Japanese. A total of 6 out of the 10 Shiratsuyu-class ships have rain-related names.
- ↑ The Oxygen Torpedo is what the Japanese referred to the Type 93 torpedo (Known as the 'Long Lance' by the Americans) due to its propulsion system that used pure oxygen as the fuel oxidizer instead of compressed air, as this didn't leave any trails of exhaust bubbles on the surface of the warer. It was, by far, one of the most advanced torpedoes of the war.
- ↑ Equipment(3) is shared with expedition selection, resource collection, instant repair and development.
- ↑ Another reference to her name, the kanji of which literally read "time rain", rain that doesn't last all that long.

Character
Seiyuu: Tanibe Yumi
Artist: Kujou Ichiso (玖条イチソ)
Appearance
Shigure wears a black seirafuku shared with the majority of the girls of her ship class. She has dark-brown hair that ties into a ponytail on the right side of her shoulder as well as blue eyes. She also wears long black socks and brown shoes. The rigging she has shows her sporting a large variation of the 12.7cm Gun Mount which according to Ichiso's, has demonstrated in a quick doodle that the gun can detatch from tbe back and be moved up to the front to fire.
Second Remodel
Shigure maintains most of her same clothes before but has a few additional fixes to her design. She now sports a small golden decorative ornament on the side of her head which is the same as that found on the Fusou-Class as a parting gift reflecting the incident at the Leyte Gulf in which the Nishimura Fleet all met thier demise outside of Shigure, who was the only survivor from WWII. In addition, she now sports more stylized sleeves and a collar to her serafuku along with a read long neckerchief. She also sports the brown dog-like ear flaps like those Yuudachi and Kawakaze have.
Her rigging is also more complex as she now spots red tipped Quad Torpedo Mounts, a more refined 12.7cm gun mount along with additional smaller varation of the same gun mounted on the side.
Personality
Tanibe Yumi in her interview described Shigure to have a calm and quiet personality. Most likely because she is trying to refrain from letting her past history get to her as she has gone through a long and troublesome road based upon her in-real life counterpart's history in WWII.
In-Game Tips
Shigure is another ship that players are likely to obtain early on. While she may not shine in any way special in battle during her first remodel (other than having (slightly better than normal combat performance) she will however become very resourceful once she reaches her Kai Ni level.
Like Yukikaze, Shigure ends up getting a very high luck boost allowing her to easily be able to perform torpedo cut-ins which makes her one of several go-to ships for event purposes for take out Abyssal Princess Type Ships. So just like Yukikaze, she is ideal for night combat situations for both beginners and advanced players.
In-game Trivia
- On 2013/10/16 she recieved her Resupply and Idle lines were added.
- On 2013/10/23 she recieved her Kai Ni form.
- The date Shigure recieved her Kai Ni is 69 years after the Battle of Leyte Gulf took place. It is speculated that the developers chose this date on purpose.
- Unlike Yuudachi Kai Ni's historical achievement upgrade, Shigure Kai Ni's upgrade is based on the historical ship from one month before she sank.
- Yuudachi Kai Ni and Shigure Kai Ni both have similar dog ear-shaped hair, but Yuudachi's was based on a mad dog, while Shigure's was based on a obedient dog.
- She received the most Anti Aircraft armaments among the Shiratsuyu Class, resulting in her strong Anti-Air stats.
- This is a historical reference to Operation Kon and the Battle of the Philippine Sea.
- She is sometimes paired with Yamashiro as a couple because Yamashiro provided cover (and sunk as a result) for Shigure to escape the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
- Because of her equipment's appearance, she is nicknamed 'Guncannon' (from Mobile Suit Gundam).
- Some teitokus suggest that Shigure might have PTSD over night battles, judging by her quotes.
- According to the history, both the Battle of Vella Gulf and the Battle of Leyte Gulf), in which she lost all of her comrades, occurred during night time.
- Shigure's hairpin is a similar design to those on the flight decks of Fusou and Yamashiro.
- Shigure's hairpin seems to be their hairpins put together to form one.
- She is required for the Nishimura Fleet and New Nishimura Fleet quests (A22, A44, B14, and B33).
Real Trivia
- Her name means drizzling rain (in late autumn and early winter).
- She shares a captain (Tameichi Hara) with both Amatsukaze and Yahagi. Captain Hara was the only IJN Destroyer Captain from the start of the war to survive to the very end.
- Her Captain's Interest was on Radar Fire Control & Avoiding Enemy Fire At Night Battle.
- Shigure was known as one of the lucky ships of the war, sometimes referred to as Shigure of Sasebo, similarly as Yukikaze of Kure.
- She participated in at least ten major Pacific Theater battles, in which she always suffered from medium to no damage, until she was sunk a few months before the end of the war from a torpedo attack.
- During the Battle of Vella Gulf, she was the only destroyer to survive from the surprise torpedo salvos because the torpedo that hit her did not explode.
- During the Battle of Leyte Gulf, she pulled through hails of shell in front, while the rest of Nishimura Force was sunk. Then she fled and became the sole survivor.
- During the Operation HailStone, She suffered heavy damage from an air raid on Truk by United States Navy aircraft, taking a direct bomb hit to her No.2 gun turret, reducing her maximum speed to 25 knots.
- This led her to have very high luck after her second remodel, though this is slightly lower than that of Yukikaze.
- She participated in at least ten major Pacific Theater battles, in which she always suffered from medium to no damage, until she was sunk a few months before the end of the war from a torpedo attack.
- Sank USS Growler, SS-215 who sank Arare and Shikinami
- During the escort mission, the IJN encountered USS Growler with their fleet lurking around. The whole escort ships went to attack USS Growler, so it is unsure if Shigure got the final blow.
- During the Western New Guinea campaign, Shigure succesfully shot down 4 B-25s with her 25mm Anti-Air guns.
- During the Battle of the Philippine Sea, Shigure was the escort ship for Light Carrier Ryuuhou. Shigure successfully evaded the bomb going for her, shot down the TBF-Avenger trying to torpedo Ryuuhou, and evaded torpedoes aimed at her at close range. This showed how skilled Shigure's crewman were.
- Shigure used to be a concert vessel for Unryuu. In one of Unryuu kai's hourlies, she mentions Shigure bringing her riceballs and pickled radish.
- Sunk in action 7:15(JST) 24 January 1945 near Kota Bharu, Malaya (now Malaysia) at (06°00′N 103°48′E).
