Trivia

The "Kasuga Maru-class" carriers is a made-up class, the real class should be either the "Nitta Maru-class" cargo liner, or the "Taiyou-class" carriers.

• This naming may be explained by the fact that unlike her 2 older sisters, Kasuga Maru herself was not completed as an ocean liner, and quickly rebuilt as a carrier, being therefore the 1st ship of her class (Taiyou), and by extension, being here the 1st ship of the "Kasuga Maru-class".
• In real life, Nitta Maru was the lead ship of the class, with the 3 ship names being only used as civilian vessels, and not by the IJN, being immediately renamed upon conversion, and not operated as "Kasuga Maru-class" carriers.

As the Nitta Maru-class was operated by the Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), the three ships were named respectively Nittamaru, Yawatamaru, and Kasugamaru (NYK).
