- ↑ The Circle 4 Plan was the last of the pre-war naval expansion plans. Many of the ships were not completed until the war was fully underway.
- ↑ Reference to the Battle of Tassafaronga, where Tanaka's fleet of 8 destroyers were ambushed by Rear Admiral Wright's U.S. fleet of 5 cruisers and 4 destroyers. Tanaka lost a single destroyer to the surprise attack, but the realiatory torpedo salvo sank 1 cruiser and heavily damaged 3 more; allowing the IJN fleet to esacpe.
- ↑ Despite Tanaka's victory at Tassafaronga, IJN Command didn't enjoy the fact that he broke tactical protocol during battle, and that he opposed the fuel supply mission to Guadalcanal. Losing favor from IJN HQ, he was later relieved of his command and sent inland.
- ↑ She uses the phrase '胸を貸す' which means to let a less skilled person practice with you.
- ↑ The Battle of Tassafaronga is known as the Battle of Lunga Point in Japanese sources.
- ↑ Equipment(3) is shared with expedition selection, resource collection, instant repair and development.
- ↑ She is remembering her tiring work during the Tokyo Expresses
- ↑ The fleet at Tassafaronga was made out of elements from 4 different Destroyer Divisions.
- ↑ The actual phrase is "肉を切らせて、骨は断つから!" which translates to "even if you tear my flesh off, I'll still break your bones!". It means that you're willing to sacrifice everything to defeat the enemy.

- ↑ The "Hour of the rat" is pronounced 'ne no shoukoku' and rhymes with Nenohi's name. It's an archaic way to refer to the time frame between midnight at 2am.
- ↑ In the old timekeeping standards, the Hour of the Horse (午の刻) covered 11am to 1pm. Thus "before the horse" (午前) refered to the first half of the day (am) and "after the horse" (午後) refered to the latter half of the day (pm).
