Morale/Fatigue is a hidden statistic within the game. Each ship has their own morale value. It ranges from 0 to 100 and has various boosts and penalties associated with it.
Morale ↑ = Fatigue ↓
Fatigue occurs at low morale. Ships with enough rest will have a morale value of 49. A value above 50 is commonly known as the "sparkle" effect.
Morale regenerates at 3 points every 3 minutes (like fuel, steel and ammo) and this automatically regenerate until 49. After 4/23 update, Morale now regenerates, upon return to base, for time spent on a sortie. Operates under same conditions as normal regeneration.
Indications
Below are the indications of your ship state. Specific effects will be explained below.
Morale value | Indication | Ship State |
---|---|---|
100~50 | The image of ship generates sparkling effect. | High Morale |
49~40 | Ships are in their normal state. | Normal |
39~30 | Ship looks normal, but the "Mamiya Food Ship" button in Organize/編成 page is flashing. | Slightly Fatigued |
29~20 | An orange smiley face is shown by your ship image in the Organize/編成 page. | Moderately Fatigued |
19~0 | A red smiley face is shown by your ship image in the Organize/編成 page. | Seriously Fatigued |
Effects

- Morale effect occurs after Action in battle, for example when sortie at morale 49:
- the 1st MVP ship will obtain double evasion and hit rate at 2nd battle (59 morale for rank A at previous battle)
- flagship always obtain double evasion and hit rate at 2nd battle if not entering night battle and get S rank (53 morale)
- It is only possible for a ship to sink if it enters the battle node at heavy damage; Morale does not have a direct role in this. However, Moderately/Seriously fatigued ships suffer severe penalties that are exacerbated with longer sorties. It is high inadvisable to sortie them unless you are only farming one node and/or do not care about performance.
Morale modifiers
Below is a table of morale modifier in terms of morale value. +10 morale = -10 fatigue Morale has a maximum value of 100.

Gaining morale with maximum efficiency and minimum cost
You may want make ship sparkle before take them to expedition for great sucess or sortie for double evasion, here is list for easy way for getting morale up. You may have unwanted drop and become unused ship before scraped or consumed, you can use them for meat shield. and may not suply them and change another flagship for next ship who want sparkle.
Grind 1-1
Grinding for morale at 1-1 is very common and very easy, almost all type ship, and all around level can do this, but takes time compared with 1-5 grind. Takes total 6 battle and 3 cycle for maximum morale
- Low Level DD (lv3~19)
- Set ship who want make her sparkle as Flagship
- well geared flagship (12.7cm Twin Gun Mount x 2)
- set 3~5 level 1 unused DD
- remove their gear to prevent steal MVP
- Enter 1-1 full run, do not enter night battle
- use double line at 1st node for prevent 1 hit kill or sink other than flagship
- if it still too hard for flagship to get MVP, decrease number of ship, (minimum is 4 to make double line, to prevent 1 hit kill other than flagship)
- you may not rank S in row, but it still make sparkle in 1 cycle run
- it will take 3 times run to maximum morale (85)
- High Level DD (>>lv20), CL, CA, BB
- Set ship who want make her sparkle as Flagship
- set your strongest gear for flagship
- set 1~2 level 1 unused DD/ unused SS(lv1~9)/ unused AV/ unused CL
- if you want make high lv DD sparkle don't use CL as wildcard, cause she will attack first at shelling phase
- remove their gear
- Enter 1-1 full run, do not enter night battle even you only achieve rank B
- it will take 3 times run to maximum morale (85)
- CLT/SS/AV
- Set ship who want make her sparkle as Flagship
- equip her with Type A Ko-hyoteki, add Seaplane bomber(Zuiun) if you want sparkle AV.
- set 1~2 level 1 unused DD/ unused SS(lv1~9)/ unused AV/ unused CL/ unused CV(L)/ unused BB
- Enter 1-1 full run, do not enter night battle even you only achieve rank B
- it will take 3 times run to maximum morale (85)
- CV(L)/CAV/BBV
- Set ship who want make her sparkle as Flagship
- equip her with torpedo bomber for carrier and Seaplane bomber(Zuiun) for aviation
- set 1~2 level 1 unused DD/ unused SS(lv1~9)/ unused AV/ unused CL/ unused CV(L)/ unused BB
- it will guarantee rank S and minor chance rank A
- it will take 3 times run to maximum morale (85)
Grind 1-5
grinding 1-5 for morale is more advance, you may need ASW gear, and some admiral prevent extra stage for prevent uncontrolled escalate HQ level, but if you okay with high level HQ or want obtain rare ship, grind 1-5 is recommended for you. it is faster compared with grinding at 1-1, only need 4 battle and 1 cycle to obtain maximum morale.
- Low Level HQ (under 40)
- Set ship who want make her sparkle as Flagship ( DD/BBV/CL(T)/CVL )
- Make sure flagship have highest ASW, (higher level or equiped with ASW gear)
- for CVL equip with torpedo bomber type plane(Type 97 Torpedo Bomber) (Blue icon)
- for BBV equip with seaplane bomber (zuiun)
- add 3 wildcard (DD/ CL(T) / CVL/BB(V) ) is ok, since only boss node have opening torpedo, you may add main ship for wildcard for grinding experience.
- use double line at 1st node for prevent 1 hit kill or kiled other than flagship if flagship DD, other than that use line abreast
- go home after 3rd node (76 morale)
- if you aim for 85 morale you can advance to boss node if your fleet meet condition (1BBV+1CVL+1DD+1CL / 1BBV+1CVL+ 2DD / 1BBV+3DD / 1CVL+3 DD / 1CVL+1CL+2DD / 1CL + 3DD / 4DD)
- if your fleet didn't reach boss like you want, refresh browser page or restart the program (do not click formation), it will count as go home after 3rd node
- High Level HQ (above 40) and have ASW gear
- Set ship who want make her sparkle as Flagship ( DD/CL(T) )
- set your strongest ASW gear to your flagship, it recommended to combine of sonar and Deep Charge
- add 3 (or more) unused ship (DD/CL/CVL) more DD more better cause opening torpedo target DD more often (need confirm), add 1 unused BB more better for 2nd shelling,
- use double line at 1st node for prevent 1 hit kill or sink other than flagship if flagship is DD, other than that use line abreast.
- hope the first opening torpedo not hit your flagship
- go home after 3rd node (76 morale)
- you may can advance to boss node (if condition meet), but not guarantee your flagship return safety (boss node have high hit rate at High HQ)
- if your fleet didn't reach boss like you want, refresh browser page or restart the program (do not click formation), it will count as go home after 3rd node
Day Battle S Victory in Exercises
- By obtaining a battle rank S in exercises without entering night battle, your flagship will receive a morale gain of +4, while your consort ships will receive a morale gain of +1. The MVP of the battle will receive an additional +10.
- If your ships are fully rested and have a morale of 49, by obtaining the +1 morale from battle rank S their morale will become 50, which produces sparkle effect. This can be useful for giving the sparkle effect quickly to ships for one long expedition.
- to make note that 50 morale even at sparkle state it still no buff effect at sortie (only flagship (53 morale), and MVP ship (60 morale) who get buff effect)
- If you enter night battle or only achieve A rank, only the flagship and MVP will receive a morale boost.
