* Her name literally means "Chrysanthemum Moon".
* Her name is an archaic word for January, specifically the first month of Japan's Lunar Calendar, which is no longer in use.
* She was launched on the 15th of May 1926.
* Combat loss on the 5th of May 1942, at the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_of_Tulagi_%28May_1942%29 Invasion of Tulagi] ([http://tools.wmflabs.org/geohack/geohack.php?pagename=Japanese_destroyer_Kikuzuki¶ms=09_07_S_160_12_E_ 09°07′S 160°12′E]). Beached wreckage is still hardly visible in the backwaters of Florida Island.
