The Kamikaze class are very old destroyers (older than the Mutsuki and Fubuki class). And their age is reflected in their stats; even when upgraded they are still below average compared to most remodeled destroyers. Thus they tend to perform very poorly in most combat situations, and all of them require extensive training to reach their remodel levels. Their only decent stat is their relatively high luck.  While this makes them potential candidates to utilize torpedo cut-ins, the damage they perform with torpedo cut-ins will still be be relatively low compared to other destroyers due to their low stats.

Kamikaze Kai's ASW stats also make her just good enough to perform pre-emptive ASW against enemy submarines once she reaches level 99, with a [[Type 4 Sonar]], a [[Type 3 Sonar]] and a [[Type 3 Depth Charge]].
