Any enemy submarines will force Destroyers, Light Cruisers, and Torpedo Cruisers to target them. Cut-In and Double Attacks are ignored. In normal Night Battles, ASW damage is scratch damage only. In battles starting at night, Formation Modifiers apply.

As of June 30, 2016, Destroyers and Light Cruisers, Torpedo Cruisers as well as [[Isuzu|Isuzu Kai Ni]] can now perform a preemptive Anti-Submarine Attack on enemy submarines upon the start up of the map. In order to trigger this, a Destroyer, Light Cruiser, or Torpedo Cruisers needs to be armed with a Sonar and have stats greater or equal to 100 ASW. [[Isuzu|Isuzu Kai Ni]] can perform Preemptive Anti-Submarine Attack regardless of her ASW stats as long as she is armed with a Sonar.
