With the introduction of her Kai Ni Remodel, Asashio received an interchangeable Kai Ni which has allowed her become beneficial in multiple ways. While her traditional Kai Ni remodel allows her to become a strong surface combat ship on par with Yuudachi and Ayanami, her Kai Ni Type D remodel allows her to become beneficial at [[Daihatsu]] carrying and ASW combat,  since she'll be able to perform a [[Combat#Anti-Sub Warfare|preemptive anti-sub attack]] with a minimal set of ASW gear (A [[Type 3 SONAR]] and a [[Type 3 Depth Charge]] should be more than enough to help her get started)
