With the introduction of her Kai Ni Remodel, Asashio has received an interchangeable Kai Ni which has allowed her become benifical in mutiple ways. While her original Kai Ni remodel allows her to become a strong surface combat ship who is on par with being used in similar matters as Yuudachi and Ayanami, her Kai Ni Type D remodel allows her to become benifical at [[Daihatsu]] carrying / ASW combat since she'll be able to perform a pre-emptive ASW attack with a minimal set of ASW gear (A [[Type 3 SONAR]] and a [[Type 3 Depth Charge]] should be more than enough to help her get started)

Because of this, both of her Kai Nis have useful benefits which can allow her to be used in many situations, so most admirals should be prepare to organize her so she can used depending on how you want to use her. If you're in need of more ships that can perform pre-emptive ASW, then it's preffered to have her as a Kai Ni D, but if you need a stronger offensive ship, then you can use her as Kai Ni.

Also as an alternative option, you can always consider getting two copies and reserve one in each different remodel if need be.
