At K1, the Furutaka-class is very weak, packing a base night-battle power comparable to DDs. They do get a bit stronger when they hit K2, but in reality that second remodel simply brings them on par with most other K1s. That Furutaka K2 is strictly worse than Takao in every area in exchange for a small consumption difference is telling, and relegates them to reserve-fleet status.

At K1, both the Furutaka and Aoba-classes are very weak, packing a base night-battle power comparable to DDs. Furutaka, Kako, and Kinugasa get a bit stronger when they hit K2, but in reality, that second upgrade simply brings them on par with K1s 30-40 levels lower. The Aoba-class are just as poor as the Furutaka-class, Kinugasa does have a K2 at level 55, but like the Furutaka K2s, this simply puts her on par with what other cruisers thirty levels lower are capable of. Aoba is one of the worst cruisers in the game, she has 30 luck which can be useful for TPCIs in ridiculously desperate situations, but otherwise has almost no combat value.
