This gun is the modified version of the The twin gun ''Model B, ''which was used in Ayanami-class and Akatsuki-class destroyer. The main different between Type A and B is instead of an elevation range of −5° to +40°, type B increase it to 75°, which is required to more complicated and effective AA system installed in newer destroyer. Type B however too thin to withstand heavy seas and splinter damage, thus the Type B Kai was introduce, adding more protection.
First mounted in [[Hatsuharu]]-class destroyer but the effectiveness is unknown.
