The depicted plane is allegedly the Ki-96 base variant (did not exist/enter service as is).
The depicted plane is based on one of the three Ki-96 prototypes that existed. None were manufactured en masse nor entered active service despite good test performance. Elements of the Ki-96 design were incorporated to the design of the Ki-102 that did see production and limited service towards the end of the war.
