The R Operations were a series of transportation campaigns and combat operations that took place over the course of 1942 when Japan begin its attempt to take control of Rabaul to make it into a base of operation during the early part of the war.
Details regarding the operations could vary, but the most important information hinted in regards to the event related to November 1942 when [[Hayashio]] met her end during the campaign.

The iconic final naval battle between USN and the IJN that would serve as Japan's final standoff against the USN where the 2nd Fleet would be deployed on what would be their final mission that would have their most prized ship, [[Yamato]] meet her end along with almost every other member in the fleet with the exception of [[Yukikaze]], [[Suzutsuki]], and [[Fuyutsuki]], who would manage to survive the air attack and retreat back to the Japan mainland after their failed attempt to fend off against the incoming American forces.
