* Sunk at [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Surigao_Strait Battle of Surigao Strait], on the 25th of October 1944.
* Wreck located in Surigao Strait on the 27th of November 2017, by RV ''Petrel''. She lies a mile away from sister ''Yamagumo'' at a depth of 177 m (581 ft) and is heavily encrusted with marine growth. She is upright and intact, but her hull is badly crumpled.
