"KanColle: Itsuka Ano Umi de" (艦これ いつかあの海で, KanColle: Someday in that Sea), also known as KanColle 1944 Itsuka no Umi de, is the 2nd anime adaptation of Kantai Collection to be produced by C2 and Kadokawa, and made by the studio Engi , that was announced on the 4th of January 2019, and that started airing on the 3rd of November 2022. The anime is available on Prime Video in Japan, and on Crunchyroll for western audiences. The official Website can be found here.

It is not considered a "second season" of the previous anime & film, but an alternative story.

The series focuses on Shigure as the main character a "End of the War" theme, based on the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Like other Kancolle media, this story is happening in the future, where events of the past are resurfacing, and where Kanmusus relive part of their analog warships' story.

Unlike its predecessor, this anime is much darker, as it follows the final stages of the War (Starting at August 1944) on the Japanese side.

Anime Trailer

It was made as a sudden announcement at the last minute of the KanColle JAZZ Concert Festival, once the performance ended as it showed an animation trailer for the upcoming anime. Several other private and then public trailers have then been released sparsely in the following years, revealing details about the plot, the cast, and some of the technical aspects of this anime.
