As of the Spring Event, all Active Branching nodes are done without combat and are purely for selecting paths.

Mechanic in Maps

Starting with the Spring 2015 Event, the Active Branching mechanic was added. For the first time in the history of KanColle, the ability to make a choice with branching was introduced. Combat does not occur in active branching nodes.
