- ↑ 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 1.7 1.8 1.9 Types with no proper NATO hull classification code.
- ↑ In Kancolle, "Coastal Defense Ships" are labeled as "DE", and real "Destroyers Escort" as DD instead of DE.
- ↑ In the game, this CVE naming does not overlap with the sub-type of CVL: CVE
- ↑ Also called "Tank Landing Ship"
In addition, some subtypes may also be used like:
- CVE for Escort Carriers,
- CVN for Night Carriers,
- BC is not a proper NATO hull classification code, probably corresponding to "Battle Cruisers" (code being CC, or CB for "Large Cuisers"), only seen in the Composition menu's filtering tabs, mostly referring to the Kongou-class.
- "Fleet Carrier" (正規空母,Seiki kūbo) for all CV(B/L)
- B for "Super Dreadnought" (超弩級戦艦), unused yet.
- Historically "B" is a pre-1920 naming, sometimes used to designate pre-Dreadnought battleships, Super Dreadnought being informal and simply called BB.
- Historically, all battleships in the game are classified as super dreadnoughts but Gangut and Conte di Cavour.
- AP for "Transport Ships/Supply Ships" (補給艦),
- PT (PT boats) for "Patrol Torpedo boats", exclusive to PT Imp Packs, which are counted as "DD" with special buffs in the game.
- Some Abyssals also have some exclusive sub-types.
- Notes
- So far, the following types are fully interchangeable regarding Routing, Expeditions, and Quests requirement:
- CV and CVB
- SS and SSV
- The term Kūbo (空母) is a shorthand for Kōkū bokan (航空母艦), which means "Aircraft Carrier".
