* The wreck was discovered by Caladan Oceanic under the guidance of Parks Stephenson and Victor Vescovo on the 31st of March 2021. During the dive, Parks revealed he was a fan of KanColle and he placed his nendoroid Johnston aboard the DSSV Limiting Factor as a good luck charm when they searched for the wreck. She sits upright and is well preserved at a depth of 6460 m (21180 ft) and was originally the world's deepest discovered wreck until June 2022 when USS Samuel B. Roberts was found at a depth of 6985 m (22621 ft). Parks revealed that Johnston's wreck lies not too far from Samuel B. Roberts when he replied to Zeco's tweet about hoping Sam's isn't too lonely.
