My role was to be an amphibious assault ship with greater air support capabilities than my predecessors Shinshuu Maru and Akitsu Maru. Due to the worsening war situation, I was tasked with being an anti-submarine escort carrier instead. Though I'm a standardised wartime ship<ref>Standardised wartime ships (戦時標準船), or "senhyou-sen" (戦標船) for short, were ships with simplified designs meant to be mass produced during wartime.</ref>, I can still be of some use.
