While probably the weakest submarine in the submarine family, Maruyu is still a kanmusu that is strongly sought after by admirals due to the fact that collecting a large number of them can be beneficial for the use of increasing the luck of a kanmusu through the use of modernization. Those who manage to collect many copies should consider training them to level 20 and upgrading to Kai to guarantee the upgrade and to increase the likely hood that your kanmusu that you feed Maruyu to will grant more luck than she would provide in her regular form. Since luck has the properties of boosting the likely hood a kanmusu can conduct a night battle cut in and also trigger a small increase in crit probabilities and evasion, players will want to collect them in due time.
Maruyu is often found via LSC, 3-5 and 6-2 which are known to be the only locations outside of event maps which they have a tendecy to appear way more frequently.
Even though Maruyu is used as luck fodder, does not mean that she doesn't have her uses in battle. Thank to the fact that most enemy units in the normal part of the game can rarely instant crit a sub once they're fully modernized, Maruyu can be used to usually tank a hit or two before she is in high need of repair. Further more, her repair time frame is among the shortest of all the kanmusu making her useful for helping along with Orel cruising, power training, and so forth since she can be brought back into battle in a short period of time.
