The "''Kasuga Maru''-class" carriers is a made-up class, the real class should be either the "''Nitta Maru''-class" cargo liner, or the "{{Class|Taiyou}}" carriers.
*This naming may be explained by the fact that unlike her 2 older sisters, Kasuga Maru herself was not completed as an ocean liner, and quickly rebuilt as a carrier, being therefore the 1st ship of her class (Taiyou), and by extension, being here the 1st ship of the "''Kasuga Maru''-class".
*In real life, Nitta Maru was the lead ship of the class, with the 3 ship names being only used as civilian vessels, and not by the IJN, being immediately renamed upon conversion, and not operated as "''Kasuga Maru''-class" carriers.
As the ''Nitta Maru''-class was operated by the Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), the three ships were named respectively Nittamaru, Yawatamaru, and Kasugamaru (NYK).
