Tips

  • At least 3 SS(V) are required to reach the boss.
  • There are LoS checks at G H and H K. They do not have high LoS requirements, but an all-submarine fleet without recons/radar can be sent to I.

Recommended Fleets

  • 1CV, 1CL, 1CLT, 3SS(V)
  • Route = C F G H K
    • Has a 15% chance to off-route to Node I
      • The CLT can be replaced with an AS to avoid this.
    • Most effective fleet for taking out the boss but it will have to go through node C where there's a Ru-class Flagship.
  • Using a Midget SubmarineType A Kouhyouteki
    Type C Kouhyouteki
    Type D Kouhyouteki Kai (Kouryuu Kai)     on both the CL & CLT gives a powerful Opening Torpedo Salvo (Otorp).
  • For the CV, either:
    • The CV may use several JetsKikka Kai
      Jet Keiun Kai      , adding the Jet Assault phase to the already strong Otorp, allowing to wipe all pre-boss fleets before they can attack the fleet.
    • The CV should be equipped with a Range range extender to be set on Long Range, and so act first after the Opening phases (note that Jets also extend the range to long).
  • Try to use a CVB so that it can attack even in Chuuha.

  • 6SS(V)
  • Route = A D F G H K
    • Allows the fleet to completely ignore any enemy ships that can't attack SSs, however node D is pretty harsh on SS with late-model DDs and flagship CLs.
    • Count on the Opening Torpedo Salvo (Otorp) & cut-in attacks (at boss), so only remodeled SS are recommended when using this composition.
    • Recon seaplanes or Submarine RadarsSubmarine Radar & Waterproof Telescope
      Submarine Radar & Passive Radiolocator (E27)
      Late Model Submarine Radar & Passive Radiolocator       may be used to meet the LoS requirements.
    • As SSVs have few slots, only one may just carry all the seaplanes. As many combat-capable submarines as possible are needed for this route.

  • 1AS, 1CL, 4SS(V)
  • 1AS, 2DD, 3SS(V)
  • Route = A F G H K
    • The shortest route in terms of the number of battles.
    • 1AS combined with at least 2 SS(V) unlock the "Submarine Touch", a special attack that can trigger several times on the map, consuming a Submarine Supply Material per battle.
    • The AS can equip recon seaplanes to free up slots for the SS(V)s.
    • A trade-off is that any enemy ship still in light damage or better shape at the end of the shelling phase will have fewer targets to launch their torpedoes at, so the AS and its escorts have to tank all the preboss ships that can't perform ASW.

Node I has some good drops like I-401 .

  • To farm here, it is possible to use:
    • 1BB, 3CLT, 1CL, 1CV
    • 1CL, 3CLT, 2CV
    • Route = C F G I

Tips

Regarding the map

Once the map is cleared, it no longer possible to roll the final boss form.

  • Only AVs, CLs, CTs, and DDs are allowed to sortie!
    • Specifically at least 1AV, 1CL, and 1DD. CLT cannot be used here.
  • Maximum of 2AV allowed.

Node notes

  • Node C is a normal submarine node
  • Node B is a submarine node that sometimes contains surface ships instead of submarines
    • Regardless of enemies present, B is treated as a Submarine node for Ammunition/Fuel consumption
    • The only reason to head towards B is to have a fleet that cannot/doesn't want to face SS So-Class Elite at node C but at the cost of an extra surface node
  • A CL Tsu-Class Elite can show up at node E.
  • Node G can be guaranteed with 4 DDs in the fleet.

Recommended Fleets

Type D Kouhyouteki Kai (Kouryuu Kai) are advised in every composition.

  • Because you can only deploy AV/CL/CT/DD, it is unlikely that your fleet win during daytime battle. You should expect the battle to last into nighttime.
  • Using Seaplane Bombers on your AV's biggest slots can help you achieve AS and Artillery Spotting.

  • Route = A C E F H J
    • Has the highest damage output at the boss, especially since the boss fight almost always requires night battle.
    • Needs to fight an extra battle against a fleet led by a CA Ne-Class Elite

  • 1AV, 1CL, 4DD
  • Route = A C E G H J
    • The most cost-effective way to get to the boss, and guarantees G branching, which allows two air reconnaissance rewards.
    • The setup with the lowest damage output. It may not consistently get a victory at the boss.

  • 1AV, 2CL, 3DD
  • Route = Random:
    • A C E G H J
    • A C E F H J
    • Has better damage over the Light fleet, and on the shortest route, can fight at the boss with better damage output.
    • Has to deal with RNG. Being sent to Node F may hurt a bit more.

Air Reconnaissance Mechanic

On Nodes G and H, Seaplanes will be flown towards the "green X" (the recon route is shown on the map as green arrows).

  • Successful reconnaissance will reward additional resources upon getting a B+ rank on the boss.
    • Neither G or H have combat.
    • Animation will be shown for the Air Reconnaissance; if both Large Flying Boat Large Flying BoatsType 2 Large Flying Boat
      PBY-5A Catalina       and other Seaplane Seaplanes (SPR and SPB) are brought, Flying Boat animation takes priority.
    • Success rate of the air reconnaissance depends on the LoS and Seaplanes count.
    • All reconnaissance rewards are forfeit if the fleet fails to win at the boss node J.

Tips

This map features multiple starting zone positions.

  • Fleet consisting of a Torpedo Squadron (i.e. mostly CLs and DDs) will start on the West side of the map.
  • Existence of any carrier, 2BB, or 3CA(V)s will start on the East (Nagato Kai Ni + Mutsu Kai Ni is the exception)
  • Having 0 or 1 DD will also start on the East
  • You cannot bring more than 2(F)BB(V)s or 2CV(L)s.

Regarding Boss fleet

  • Boss Fleet is heavily affected by your HQ level.
    • Admirals below HQ level 103 will not feature a 6-enemy composition in the boss composition outside of the last kill, but will have a chance of appearing if your HQ level is 103 or higher.
    • Admirals below HQ level 113 have a chance of rolling a 5-enemy composition with the Late Model DDs (This is the easiest comp). But once your HQ is 113 or higher, this composition will disappear completely and can no longer be rolled.
  • Boss fleet's flagship is Isolated Island Princess, a Hard-skinned Installation.
Dive Bomber Dive-Bombers that can attack installations
This is a segment from a bigger article. See Combat/Anti-Installation for details on Installation mechanics.

Carriers will only attack installations in the shelling phase if equipped with Torpedo Bombers or Anti-Installation Dive Bombers.

  • Additionally, carriers will attack installations if equipped with non-special dive bombers AND one of the special dive bombers below.
  • Any other dive bomber will completely disable shelling against installations even if the carrier has a torpedo bomber equipped.
  • This can be very useful to manipulate the targeting mechanic so the carriers attack important targets.

  • 1 Land-Based Air Squadron can be sortied on the map.
  • There is no air raid on this map.
  • It is highly recommended to use this LBAS to help simplify the battle on the boss node for this map.
    • It is recommended to bring 2 land-based bombers and 2 fighters.
    • 3 land-based bombers and 1 fighter is a viable alternative to damage more the installations, but it may result in more plane losses.
    • Another alternative is to bring 4 land-based bombers and focus them on Node C instead of the boss. Plane losses here are minimal. This can significantly improve the pass rate of an Akitsushima fleet which emphasizes anti-installation over anti-ship performance.
  • The Distance your land-based planes can travel on this map is calculated from Start Point 1 and heading eastward each node.
  • Bring planes with a distance of 5 or more in order to reach the boss.
  • If land-based planes focus on targeting the Artillery Imps and Supply Depot Princess, the battle will be easier.
  • This map can also train land-based attackers if 7-4 LBAS is not unlocked yet. Bring only Land-Based bombers with a range of 8 or more on Node M, and sortie a single SS.

    • Fleet has the best chance of reaching the boss node while maintaining fuel and ammo to allow for a better outcome in the boss fight.
    • It's highly recommended to have an SPF to help maintain AS/AP over the fights on your way to the boss. However, Ise Kai Ni or Hyuuga Kai Ni can guarantee AS, and even give a good chance for air supremacy at the boss when combined with the aforementioned (and still have two free slots after making fast, if given the RE slot).
Akitsushima fleets:

  • Route = M K J I N
    • NOT RECOMMENDED for normal clear, only use this comp for this particular quests like By10, due to the nature of 6-4 East route pre-boss having a lot of dangerous enemies that can potentially wreck your ships.
      • Node M is full of So-Class SSs, while node K and J each have Wo Kai Flagship CV, accompanied by either Ta-Class flagship BB or Ru-Class Kai Flagship BB. A particularly dangerous enemy, Aircraft Carrier Princess, is found at Node J when the boss is her final form. She may also appear in same node after clearing this area. With all these highly dangerous enemies awaiting in pre-boss, a proper fleet with strong ships and equipment is required if you wish to pass all these nodes safely.
    • LBAS can be used on preboss pass them more easily, but you may suffer on the boss fight if you lack good anti-installation equipment.
    • Keep in mind that Artillery Imp at the boss node has high AA that can easily wipe out the bombers aboard your CVs. Do consider the bombers that have AA resistance so that your CV can at least perform shelling and take out some of the escort enemies.
    • The CAV can be replaced with an LHA to skip node I, which is an air raid node, but LHA may have some issue surviving the pre-boss.
      • LHA can be anti-installation focused, with Nukes.
