Introduction

「九九艦爆」の後継として開発された高速性能を誇る水冷エンジンの艦上爆撃機「彗星」。その「彗星一二型」に、新開発で運用実験途中の「三一号光電管爆弾」を搭載した特殊兵装機です。光電管による電光の反射を信管が受信して爆発する特殊爆弾搭載「彗星」。最後の最後まで、正攻法で粘り強く戦った、あの「芙蓉部隊」も積極運用したと伝えられています。

Developed as the successor to Type 99 Carrier Bomber and boasting a high performance, water-cooled engine, the Suisei. This Suisei Model 12 is additionally armed with newly developed experimental Type 31 Photoelectric Fuze Bombs. These bombs are equipped with special Japanese proximity fuzes, which detect reflected light to explode. They were reportedly used by the Fuyou Squadron, which fought tenaciously on the frontlines until the very end.
