Born in Sasebo, I'm the 47th 1st class submarine, I-47. As with all the surviving frontline submarines late in the war, I was given that weapon as my main armament[2]. I fought right until the end of the war, participating in the raid on Ulithi Harbour as well as attacks on Hollandia and Okinawa.[3] These days, I'm resting at the bottom of the sea near the Gotou Islands. |

- ↑ Vitamin deficiencies (namely beriberi, thiamine deficiency) were a serious problem for the 19th century Japanese navy. Dietary changes such as barley rice resolved this in the Navy by WWII, but the Army was skeptical of the research and suffered beriberi throughout the war. Submariner diets must also account for Vitamin D deficiency.
